cw18 said:So, since last Thursday I've discovered I've been delivering a style of threat letter I'd not seen before. I managed to acquire a non-deliverable one, so I've taken some pics to share. Excuse the lens wipe package on one photo - it was the only thing I had readily to hand to cover the address!! The final photo shows the leaflet opened out with one our 'sorry we missed you' leaflets on top to try and demonstrate the (much smaller than normal) size - I figured most folks will have seen one of our forms at some time or other.
I've just had one of these delivered this morning. Going back in the post box return to sender.

I had an email last week saying that I have caught me watching iPlayer, even though I have told them I don't watch live tv. Occasionally, I will watch iPlayer at my parents house (who have a tv license) and I have used my account to sign in. The tv license people now say I have to buy a tv license. What should I do next?To clarify, I only watch things on netflix, amazon prime and youtube, at home.Thanks0

What should I do next? The only thing I'd be doing is asking for any evidence they have to prove I've been watching it in an unlicenced property.I've used it (very briefly just to test it out) in a licenced property, but I set up an iPlayer account FOR that property - so it's not associated to me and my address at all. It's a second home owned by family members which I help to look after in return for being allowed to use it a few times a year, and last year I updated the a/v equipment so that people who stay there have access to the streaming services.

Don't give them your name or email address. That way, they can't send you snotty little missives and instead have to pay standard (bulk) letter rates. As a bonus, you get something to light the fire with and keep the likes of cw18 gainfully employed.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -
Indeed. Definitely don't register for iPlayer and then use the same email address to submit a No Licence Needed form.
(That's all that's happening here - they are matching an email address between two different databases).1 -
All over 70s to be confined at home for months, per recent government statement.
1st June all over 75s to pay TV license.

Not condoning watching without a licence, but surely the enforcement goons are going to have to stop calling on houses? They're a non-essential service, and would be a major contamination risk. Plus those in an enforced self-isolation household shouldn't be answering the door (I accept they'll have to open it to take in essentials such as food and medicines), and certainly shouldn't be spending time with strangers.Unfortunately (for my colleagues and myself) it appears that postal services are still 'business as normal' in all lock-down counties, which I guess means I'll remain at high risk of picking it up. On the plus side that does mean I should be able to continue with some regular (but short) runs as I commute on foot. On the down side that means I'll have to stay away from my parents (40 miles from me, in 70s/80s, and neither in good shape health wise), and also my son who lives locally to me (so that he's as clear as possible should my parents need someone) - although he's an agency HGV driver, so could still be working trying to get deliveries of essentials to where they're needed which will put him at risk too........Cheryl1

And I've just been scanning the lastest news about the virus and the measures being brought in on the Telegraph website. It says....Changes to the TV license for people aged 75 and over have been postponed.EDIT: but only by 2 months, until 1st August (found more detailed info).
