had a letter saying that they will visit unless payment is made.
A date was also given. They did not turn up. The letter also said they might come later. More than three weeks have gone by but no visits.
Scare tacticts, I guess. What will they think of next!
Had a letter last week or week before with 6th November in big writing on front of envelope. Said inside that they will be visiting on this date - guess what they never showed up.0 -
There's no need to speculate about what literary depths the TVL letters may plumb, because they are all published here:-

You can see the "will you be in on ...." one at May 2017.0 -
That's and amusing link, Thanks Cornucopia.
I received another letter today, addressed to the "Legal Occupier"
"Official Warning: we have opened an investigation" in red.
It claims, "We have asked you to contact us several times, but you have not responded".
This claim is false. I had phoned 0300 790 6997 several times over the years, gave address details. Also spoke to someone.
In order to avoid this nuisance, I asked him to send someone around to confirm that that there is no TV.
He said he can not but will send another letter after 6 months and was asked to phone them again.
Looks like an industry has grown around TV Licensing.
It is a waste of time and money.0 -
Yes, kind of. The whole edifice is actually part of the BBC, and persists (IMHO) because the BBC is set up to be independent. Independence is great for impartial news, not so good for fair and proportionate law enforcement.
The whole thing is threats and unwarranted demands by the numbers. A lot of what they say and do is ultimately self-interest, fake and/or completely disconnected from relevant law.0 -
I wonder how much BBC waste on this offensive and inappropriate exercise?0

If someone watch internet TV using their computer, can the BBC trace their details though the ISP?0

You need a TV Licence to watch the Internet-streamed versions of live TV channels from the UK.
You don't need a TV Licence to watch catch-up, video-on-demand and non-UK TV channels via the Internet.
Sorry, but I don't think MSE would want info of possible assistance to Licence evaders to be published here.
There was a bit of a row last year about Wifi sniffing by the BBC, but it turned out to be a hoax.0
