As I said, I have spoken to them, they have no plans at the moment to increase their prices. This is what the advisor told me. I can only tell people what I have been told.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Can't find the conversation now or a link to the Ebico statement. Not in UK Power update list.
Hope it is in September, their old price increase date.0 -

"Pricing Statement
At EBICo, in addition to ensuring that we offer the fairest electricity and gas prices in the UK, we’ve also always tried to keep our prices stable - overall that means cheaper - rather than constant changes in price which costs customers money. Over the past 4 years, on average our competitors have changed their prices 7 times – and most of those were increases. In the same period we’ve moved the price of EQUIGAS and EQUIPOWER on just 2 occasions. However, we know that recently other companies have put their prices down. And we want you to know that we have been thinking about how to do the best for you the customer. So we are pleased to announce that we will now “benchmark” the price of EQUIGAS and EQUIPOWER. Essentially what this means is that we’ll match the moves that Scottish and Southern Energy make to their general gas and electricity tariffs. We believe that in benchmarking our prices to those of a major energy company whilst at the same time continuing our not for profit ethos – which means us not having to return money to shareholders - we can continue to deliver competitive prices and help those for whom paying for energy is a major headache. If we can make your home energy package better value we will, and we are always looking for ways to do this. EQUIGAS and EQUIPOWER will continue to remain the best deal for pre-payment meter holders and our promise remains; to be fair, honest, and the cheapest we can.

I can't say i'm extreemly happy with the price rise, but it's only £30 a year for me so I'm not that bothered. Lets face it, it's less than a half a pint a week difference.
I have however changed my Electric following Cardews advice that Click 5 is very competetive. And I got £40 Quidco cashback.
It's the cheapest Elec for me based on my calculations on my spreadsheet.
Plus when you compare my combined gas and elec with dual fuel offers, I'm still £70 up per year, thats calculating with the ebico price rises.
Based on the meter readings over the past 12 months, assuming they stay about the same, my annual gas and electric will be approx £859.08. (£587.64 Electric and £271.44)[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Has anyone actually heard from Ebico about a price rise?
I have looked at the UKPower site, who do seem to have the latest up-dated prices for all the companies.
Trying different methods, gas only, duel and electricity only,it appears even after Ebico`s price increase ther are no major savings to be had for me by switching.
The very most is £9 a year.0 -
I have not heard from Ebico about the price rise yet.
I received my electricity bill yesterday, I pay £25 p/m direct debit and I am in credit. I am in the middle of an erroneous transfer to British Gas for my gas so have not received a bill yet for that.
I am staying with Ebico, I know there is no 'sculpting' going on there and they have great customer service and very clear tariff.I always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...0 -
Price of EquiGas and EquiPower to rise from the 1st of April 2008
Ebico today (Friday) announced the first change in the EquiGas and EquiPower domestic gas and electricity supply tariffs since September 2006. As from the 1st of April 2008, the price of EquiGas will rise by 12% and the price of EquiPower will rise by an average of 15%.
Commenting on these increases, Phil Levermore, Managing Director of Ebico said,
There has been extensive media coverage of ongoing increases in electricity and gas wholesale prices over the past few months. I appreciate that the cost of gas and electricity are major items in most household budgets particularly during the winter months, so we have sought to keep prices for our customers stable during this high demand period. However, in these market conditions, we have now had no alternative but to review our prices.
EquiGas and EquiPower will continue to offer no standing charges, the same simple flat rate for everybody regardless of your payment method and help for the whole community in getting a fair deal from the benefits of energy competition.
From April 1st 2008 EquiGas costs 2.86p per kWh including VAT.
Equipower (East Midlands) General domestic rate 9.64 p per KwH
Day Rate 13.16 p
Night rate 4.47 pThat gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Like EquiGas, EquiPower charges the same rate regardless of how much you use or how you pay.
There are no standing charges.

It might be worth putting in meter readings online at Southern on April 1st.
Like I`ve already said above, i`ve done a comparison check on UKPower and for me there`s no one worth changing to.
Thanks everyone for your input.0
