BG have raised their prices TWICE a year since 2001 which amounted to a massive 104% INCREASE over that period.
The only exception was last year when they managed a small 6% cut.

This year they announced a near 20% hike in prices while at the same time announced profits of £560 MILLION.

The only question is not if they will raise prices again but when.

I think they are taking the *iss out of their customers are are lucky to have any left.

Hardly an objective, or indeed accurate analysis.

Actually their profits were £571 million.

BG raised prices by 15% - not near 20%

They actually cut prices twice last year and not by 6%!

By 17% gas and 11% electricity reduction on its standard tariffs in March and by a further 6% electricity and 3% gas in April.

Their BG click 5 prices are very competitive.

More customers returned to BG in 2007 than left!

You have absolutely no idea about BG supposedly raising its prices again, yet you post it as a fact.

Your posts are totally biased in favour of Ebico and against BG and are totally unobjective and full of inaccuracies that you just seem to pluck from the ether.

By all means knock BG - as they deserve it, and praise Ebico - as they deserve it! but let us have some balance!

Alkip, has freely made his choice after getting fed-up with BG`s rip off price rises and total lack of customer service.

    End of story

Because BG has more customers, it stands to reason they will have the highest number of complaints.
But just reading about the laxity of BG on this board doesn't inspire me to have any dealings with them, even Click tariffs.
And although desperate to earn (should that be grab) Quidco commissions, cannot find anything to match Ebico.
    Ofgem should be protecting them.

Cardew and myself have discussed the BG "click 5" tariff on another thread in the past.
I categorically proved that Ebico was the cheapest for what BG itself describes as average usage.

Of course Cardew had to juggle the figures and come up with some fantastic usage (some amount that you would need to use to heat an average castle)
so as to prove BG could be cheaper.

I don`t know if Cardew is in the employ of BG but he seems hell bent on defending them at every chance.
One thing about good old Car is he is quite amusing in some of his fantasy ravings.

I found this thread yesterday and checked out Ebico. Is there any small print? Are those prices available to anyone???

I just could not believe how cheap they were. I pay monthly with EON and they could save me a small amount a year, but the in-laws are on PAYG with BG. It took me ages to find the PAYG prices yesterday on the BG website and although I do not know their actual usage, I based the figures on mine - they do use a lot more, bigger house less insulated etc. and I could not believe the £250 saving it claimed for them.

I know that this company are genuine, but are those Ebico prices open to anyone? Not just certain people? Are there any other benefits or pitfalls in changing them to Ebico??

Those prices are open to EVERYONE even BG customers who are sick of two price increases every year.

I`m not surprised it took you ages to find PAYG prices on their site.
Like everything else they like to confuse and bambozzle people, hoping they`ll stay with them.

Thanks for that! The inlaws pay via a Card and key on their meters, but I am worried about them being left with a bill because the meter hasn't been updated. Is there anyway I can check this for them or are the meters updated via the card/key they insert?

Cardew is BY FAR one of the most helpful people on the Gas and Electric forum
And the advice given by her/him to me has not once been bias towards BG , i think you just dont like anyone who doesnt fall at the feet of Ebico
