Have just watched "The Curse of Steptoe" on BBC4. It really took me back in strange ways. Not just for the nostalgia of having watched the series all those years ago but because my Grandad was a quite high up officer in a prison and, quite a while after he died, my Granny told me about how Wilfred Brambell was one of his "guests" for a bit (another high profile guest of my Grandad's was James Hanratty) because of his homosexuality.

I can see how officer's son Harry H Corbett positively detested the lifestyle of his acting partner and I think it's all just so sad...

Oh bother!!! I forgot that was on. Will need to search for the repeat

SSL - The list of what the cleaner covers is actually huge lol. If you want I can pop what I have here in the post to you. tbh it deals really well with tarnished metal. I know what you mean about it looking mouldy this stuff brought back to life a really funky ice bucket that I thought I had neglected for too long...

CB - that would be great! I'll pm you my address. I am now obssessed with all the window handles in the house LOL. Thank you so much xx

Think they also clashed over acting styles - and yes that would have mattered to them.
Corbett was working with Joan Littlewood but got sucked into the comfort of telly money and then couldn't get out.
In those days audiences had more difficulty separating actor from role esp. on telly.
Am looking forward to the rest of the series
  • Morning!

    Haven't done anything since Monday.

Tuesday DH was at home with DS so showed him list of jobs but to no avail - he spent the day at his sisters so that he "had some company"

New neice was born Wednesday in the early hours :T so we were at the hospital until 8pm last night and then collapsed in a heap.

This means I now have a whole week's work to do in a day and I can find no motivation!

Only have 17 weeks to go until new baby so spent yesterday looking at tiny baby thinking "how am I going to manage one of those as well as DS"??? How do people do it?

Right - need to get my fat bum off the sofa!

    have a good day everyone!
Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...
  • Good morning. big hugs for everyone that needs one. i'm doing a flying list today, i'm just going to sort stuff out for going to see my dad. i need to do a list of things to sort out befor i go. DS went back to bed after his shower this morning and he wonders why i wont lat him stay on his wont while i'm at my dads, i hope he wasn't late for school.

jillD- the medical care over there is very good, it's a bit far from his villa to the main hospitals.

Rach welcome back, I've missed you
    Michelle last day! woo! :j
Mrs P I remember feeling like tht when I went from one to two lol it's best not to think about it cause in the end you manage anyway, 1. because you have to and 2. it's easier than you think, honest x

Got work from 10 till 5.30 today then got to go back to Morrisons (I drive past it going to a customers) with DD1 so she can get her shopping in so wont actually be back in the house till gone 7.30ish, glad I'm off tomorrow lol

Think AF may be due cause OH got it in the neck last night for something that wouldn't have bothered me usually, and I went and broke my loo seat in temper (it was loose anyway and kept falling off but y'know, I flung it on the floor) then I cried for an hour !!!!!!?:D he's still annoying me this morning and I don't even live with him, best not to think about him I guess lmao.

Well done on the weight loss you guys that are trying :T

Best do a shopping list for me too cause I aint going over the w/e, no way hosea! laters xx

Mrs P.. if it was that bad people wouldn't have more!! You may find the new one slips seamlessly into your family routine.. my subsequent children always fit in.. though they did always want feeding at meal times and bed time and every school run! lol.. Just don't have a screamer 2nd time like I did and you'll be fine!! Don't think about what it might be like. it is never like you think it will be.

Michelle.. DS really is normal.. they start 'terrible twos' at about 18 months and get worse when they hit 3.. this is him as he is.. you had a couple of quiet weeks because he wasn't ill and you start thinking that is normal and wham.. they are then back to themselves and it is like being hit with a brick! He will also be fuly aware you are tired and can't do the chasing you could before and heck to they take advantage of that!!

Here I am this morning.. washed showered and wet.. it is tipping out there!!! I literally DRAGGED DS3 to school kicking and screaming and swearing and spitting the entire way.. he had had an hour to find something for show and tell then wanted to make veryone late as we were walking out of the door because he hadn't found anything.. so I made him leave anyway.. hubby thrust a light sabre in his hand as we were leaving and he screamed he didn't want it to I took it off him and threw it back in the house and threw him out.. well he went hysterical.. lol the 5 minutes walk to school took 25 mintes in the pouring rain..

After telling Mrs P it won't be that bad having 2 I say that about DS3 lol... Sorry Mrs P.. mine isn't 'normal' lol

Suppose I should find a list and get on.
