Hi guys,

Had a phone call at 7am to tell me that Eric has deteriorated quite badly overnight. There has been a slow deterioration over the last few days and on speaking to the medics this morning we are now looking at 4 organ failure, lungs, kidneys, gut and heart.

His gasses are not good the CO2 being higher than the O2 and his blood is very acidic which the filter is not having much affect on. He is on maximum of everything and continues to deteriorate. They have told me there is no rush to get there today and when I go up tomorrow there will be a meeting on the next step forward. There is talk of withdrawing treatment at this point if the acidity of his blood does not cause a coronary first.
They are sitting on him for 24 hrs to see if he does improve but at this point the opinion is that he will not.

I am gutted, although this outcome was always a possibility I prayed that he would come back to us.

I have just read the thread, Smokey I am so sorry to hear that Eric is so poorly, you have been in my thoughts so much just lately. Please do not think you have put a dampner on the thread, we are here to give you all the love and support we can, and will continue to do so what ever the outcome.
