Hi sleepybookworm,
I got new scales a few months ago and they've made a tremendous difference to my baking. They're made by Salter and very accurate (to within an eighth of an ounce). They have an add and weigh function which I find really useful.
This earlier thread might help you to decide what you need:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep all the suggestions together.

Hi Op, I just use the Asda Smart-price scales. They do for my baking lol.0

I got some Salter Microtronic "Add & Weigh" electronic scales (mine are black with a removable stainless steel platform cover) a while back for £13.00. Their RRP is £19.99, so they were in line with "Martin's Money Mantra" and my policy of always getting the best stuff but never paying the full price.
As they use your existing containers (you can put a bowl or saucepan on them, reset them, and then weigh the stuff in the bowl or pan), they take up very little space.
I can now control the exact size of portions, for both the sake of my wallet (for example, I can now get 5 x 100g portions of spaghetti from a 500g packet) and my waistline. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Me too! :T My only complaint about them is that the 'pan thing' isn't quite big enough!!0 -
Mine are Bifinett ones from Lidl. They were £4.99 I think, and they seem excellent (been going a couple of years now). I bet they'll come back on sale next time they do a feature on kitchen stuff...
