Just had a quick look on Ebay and rather bizzarly they sold for £71 + £12 postage - strange as you can get new for around £60! I know they had weights but isn't that a bit high for second hand?

Think I'll have to do what you're doing and get myself out of bed early and head down to the boot sales as can't really aford that sort of money.

Ebay's a bit funny like that sometimes isn't it?!

Ah well off to the boot sale at Easter!

  • DD borrowed my digital scales at the weekend and they are now nowhere to be found!

As I needed to make some flatbreads for lunch I broke out my OS balance scales (fortunately knew where the weights were). It's a bit more work judging when they are properly balanced but the breads turned out just fine.

Not sure how old these are but I'm glad I kept them.

I like those scales as well, mine are not exactly like that, mine are the sort that you put ingredients in a bowl and the dial moves around accordingly.

I bought these after my digital ones died on me in the middle of cake making

I wouldn't have chosen digital ones for this reason and the cost of batteries, but I won these in a compation :T
  • I love my digital scales and use them for all kinds of things outside the kitchen.

Weighing items for postage for e-bay (both myself and DD)

Keeping tabs on the weights of my young snakes (need to be accurate as they can weigh just a few grams when babies)

These are the very old metal scales with a brass pan on one side and a platform for the weights on the other. They are VERY heavy, and do take up a lot of room, but are great in an emergency.

Must hunt down the digitals - seem to have evaporated completely.
  • I love my OS balance scales, we seemed to go through a set of digital scales every year or so and I got fed up of them so I picked up an old set of balance scales at a car boot sale. We also have a biggish set of old fashioned dial scales which OH prefers.

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread about scales.
