  • just had an idea, probably weird buy HEY it is Sunday:D. Instead of pancake races we could race these along the canal banking just next to me, bit like gladiator chariots. Oh My PMSL, never thought of myself as Charlton Heston(R.I.P.) before. lolol.

I'm off to uni in september and have already decided on getting one as I don't drive (theres no parking where I'll be living anyway!) and I'll be gettin the tram to town to go to the markets or to get the bus to TESCO's as theres only going to be a tiny convenience store in the complex so if people think I'll be killing myself with my shopping they can jump ship!
I'll be getting a hot pink fold up one i saw in M&S yesterday=]

  • Did you ever remember years ago, wee old women walking about pushing prams and when they went past you they had their shopping in the pram and not a baby to be seen!

That's me now, except my pram has now broken and with two young children that don't listen to a single word I say I will definately need a trolley to get the shopping done.

Tesco's is only across the road though.

I would definitely use one if I didn't have the car. I tried going into town once to do my shopping at the butchers, grocers, Iceland, Farmfoods, etc. It was a nightmare, my fingers were nearly cut off and the bus journey home was fraught with trying to keep all my shoping together and stop the bags falling over and spilling everything out. Never again!

I am actually thinking of getting one for the time when I start foraging with avengance.

I've got a grand old tartan one I bought over 14 years ago on the market for £4.99, I use it everyday and it's still going strong. Marvelous invention!!

I got a lovely bright red shopping trolley with a picture of a cat on it, so I don't feel embarrassed about using it. I use it when I go to the local market so I can take advantage of the offers, especially on the fruit & veg stalls. Before I would have to limit what I bought to what I could carry.
I used to have one of the folding cloth trolleys, but it got holes along the bottom from catching on uneven pavements and kerb edges because the wheels were so small and it was difficult to use because it would fall over too easily.

I have had a shopping trolley for the last 3 years - since I had surgery on my back - I can't carry any kind of weight without severely damaging myself so I have no choice. But I LOVE it! Up until the middle of last year I had the pram, but my littlest is 4 now and walks everywhere with me and her brother (who is 6). I have no car, unless my husband is not at work - which is weekends only when I hate to do any shopping.
We got our first trolley from Lidl, it worked really well and has only just packed up after very heavy use - not just shopping, we used it to lug all our beach stuff up and down in the summers, heavy bags at the end of term, collected all sorts of things from here to there, it was very trusty and has now been relegated to stick collecting for when we go firewood foraging.
My new trolley is from IKEA, very posh, also a folding frame one so good for putting away when empty. Big, solid wheels are better than small ones, they ride the bumps much better and are less likely to tip themselves over. Waterproof ones are good, especially in this country :rotfl:, both mine are and have never leaked or had any spoilage from rain (they do have a flappy bit to go over the opening, which I feel is essential).
By the way,I am only 38 so not your traditional old biddy with a trolley! :)

Would you use one or not be seen dead with one?

Used one at the Steam Fair over the summer to lug all the picnic stuff about and to be honest I don't see why people have a problem with them.

The one we used was a 'modern' looking one from Ikea and it made things a lot easier.

Lidl had some small, 'trendy' ones a while back, for about four quid.

I have a purple Hoppa and could not be without it. I can't be doing with carrying bags (even the bag for life ones) as it means I have to have my hands full or put them down and I am by nature a fidget. Always messing with my clothes, hair, face, talking with my hands etc so a trolley suits me down to the ground.
I am what my husband calls a middle aged art student (without being the art student, I just look like one) so I don't really care less what people think of me pulling my trolley through town and I get to be a bit smug and know that as I have been able to fill it to the top with great bargins I can afford a pint on my way home.
