This is all a bit odd, keep notes of what happened and when and also look at the BA timetables at www.ba.com and write to BA.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Commiserations to you and the girls Chris. I hope they manage to enjoy Paddy's Day on Fifth Avenue.
This sorry saga just about sums up BA I should think! Or should we say the people that work for them.
I would suggest a letter goes off to Willie Walsh setting out what you have been through over the past 24 hours or so and asking HIM why they weren't put on the plane with available seats - even if they were in Business class - rather than paying Kuwait Air to carry them. It was that decision that caused the lost luggage.
Being an Irishman, he should have some sympathy.
As has been said, from a business point of view, that decision was ludicrous.0 -
maybe they didnt want people in jeans and trainers in clubclass or whatever.
But it was daft to send the plane out with empty seats on them.
The 1st flight was 8.00am sat morning, they could have been on this. Instead the kuwait airlines one was suppose to have left at 2.45pm but actually left at 3.30pm. Without 3 suitcases.
Anyway it's not the end of the world, it's just a bit upsetting for daughter,
she wouldn't have minded, she would have stayed in her jeans and trainers for the next few days, but they have a posh meal booked for tomorrow night, and she had a dress and shoes in the case, so she is now dress and shoe hunting in new york.
Oh and the main thing in the suitcase, hair straighteners, so she is of to the hairdressers tomorrow.
how long after they come home do i need to fire a letter of to Ba.
As they return wed 19th, but i'm away till 27th, would this be to late.0 -

NEVER EVER EVER, put your GHD's in the case:mad:
They need to go in the hand luggage:D
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
This is a joke (well kinda)
Are you allowed to have them in hand luggage?
I'm thinking the cable could be used to strangle someone on board, so if twezzers are not allowed

Did you read in the papers today about BA's ghost flights?
Flights from London to Japan and India took off with no passengers!0 -
I just carried my daughters GHDs in my hand luggage when I flew home on Thursday. She insisted they went in my hand luggage ha ha... Well it took me almost a month to convince her that she should let me take them!!!! Hellllllllloooooo...it was only ME that spent half a months wages buying them for her lol.
First thing she asked when we got home is " Are my GHD's OK?"0 -

they arrived at london at 7.00pm friday and the flight for new york departed at 7.35pm.
they went to the ba desk, and whilst they were doing that, i was checking availability on the ba website.
I found availability, but it wasn't economy.
it was business or something class
ba wouldn't put them on this flight, as there flights were only economy.
So ba wouldnt' let them travel on any of the 3 flights which left on the morning. Because of this
so they transfered them to kuwait airlines, who told me today that ba would have been at a loss, cause they would have had to pay kuwait for these flights.
so why didn't they just put them in buisness class, surely that makes sense.
So flights to new york left yesterday with seats on, but wouldn't take them as passengers.
thanks for the replies guys
they could have even flown back up to manchester and took the man to jfk ba service.
they had no need (and wouldn't) upgrade them to Club as they would have upgraded people with airline status etc to make room for them in economy.
so other than completely full flights i don't understand the rationale ...they also wouldn't know whether the flights were full until check in closes.
a wild guess would be that they had a reciprocal agreement with kuwait airlines and they were 'evening' it back up. that's based on nothing other than i don't understand any other reasoning.
try Flyer Talk and see if anyone has any idea what they are playing at.
one other thing ...see if BA will get them back on the manchester flight to save the hell that is heathrow0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the update on the Manchester - London leg. It beggars belief that BA could be so utterley stupid. If I were you, and you seem to have all the facts, I would be starting now to put that letter together. Start off by making bullet points and add or subtract as you go along. It only has to be done once and there is no time like the present. I feel so sorry for the party involved. New York is truly amazing and this incident must have spoiled the holiday somewhat. I hope your efforts are successful and remember, don't give up with BA. Sally0
