up-date for anyone interested

spent the past 2 hours on the phone, trying to get the cases.

All 3 cases are in the posession of kuwait airlines in london.

And are booked in to go out on a flight to new york on tuesday.

problem they return on tuesday night from new york.

Spent the past 3 hours trying to get the suitcases on a ba or any other flight going out today.
You'd think that it would be simple but it bloody well isn't

Upshot is kuwait airlines are now not sending the bags and are keeping them there, well no point really.

My daughter isn't to bad, as the other 3 girls that she shares a room with can lend her stuff.

But 2 other girls, are in a seperate hotel a few doors away, and are sharing a room, and both these girls haven't got any bags. And one girls medication is in the suitcase.

Sounds like a nightmare - poor things!

Did BA not give them an overnight kit? My parents were delayed on a Mumbai to London flight and missed the connecting flight to Newcastle. BA put them on flights the following day and arranged a hotel room. They couldn't have the cases back as they were in transit, so BA gave them an overnight kit which contained a t-shirt and toothbrush/toothpaste, shower gel etc.

No when they landed in jfk, it was a different terminal than ba use, so they had to go to the kuwait desk.

And they couldn't be bothered to go from terminal to terminal,to find ba, they just wanted to get out and make the most of the 2 full days that they have there.

Tip for next time.

If you have two bags (either as a lone traveller or a couple etc) spread the clothes between them.
(Bit more difficult if travelling in a group of friends)

If one bag goes missing then at least you (or the other person in a couple\group) will have some clothes.

Some hard lessons learned here-NEVER put medication or essentials like glasses in hold baggage-always hand luggage. Even if the bags don't get lost planes can be delayed and they will be needed.
It may be worth speaking to the insurance company to find out if they can help with advances. Must admit if i had to be stranded without clothes and needed to go shopping-there are FAR worse places than New York where at least shopping is plentiful and cheap.
The issue with the bags seems to be that they flew on KU who don't fly daily. Why were they switched from BA to KU anyway-BA have plenty of New York flights of their own.

Hi all

they arrived at london at 7.00pm friday and the flight for new york departed at 7.35pm.

they went to the ba desk, and whilst they were doing that, i was checking availability on the ba website.

I found availability, but it wasn't economy.

it was business or something class

ba wouldn't put them on this flight, as there flights were only economy.

So ba wouldnt' let them travel on any of the 3 flights which left on the morning. Because of this

so they transfered them to kuwait airlines, who told me today that ba would have been at a loss, cause they would have had to pay kuwait for these flights.

so why didn't they just put them in buisness class, surely that makes sense.

So flights to new york left yesterday with seats on, but wouldn't take them as passengers.

Well, after all this mess the girls have had. I would make a claim/report to not only BA (cheap batards) but also with the travel insurance.

I wish them luck and hope their flight home is ALOT less stressful than it was getting there..sheesh!

Was the Manchester - London leg British Airways as well? I cannot believe they would be so stupid to pay Kuwait Airlines whilst having seats in their own aircraft, whether its business, economy or anything else. The world has gone mad! Sally

yes the manchester leg was also BA, which was delayed at manchester when they checked in.

So they were transfered to a british midlands flight, which would have got them there on time, but when they got to the gate this flight was delayed as well, by a couple of hours.

meaning that they missed there flight.

I to couldn't understand why BA didn't put them on the flights that were available the next day.

My sister was on the mobile, and i could hear the fella saying that there was no room on the plane.

And i had the internet on and was telling my sister to tell him that there was flights available. But i could hear him saying they were business class and they couldn't go on that.

I just wonder how much kuwait airways (who have been fantastic, and my sister said was great to fly with) charged BA to take the 8 of them.
