LAINEY - I'm glad you're good at counting! I can hardly keep up with it all. In just 25 days we have produced 213 squares and still counting!!!! Collectively, that's just over 8 squares a day. Talk about 'mighty oaks from little acorns grow'! You have taken on a lot of the organising of this for which I am truly grateful. As for the sewing up, please tell me if it gets too much. Your DH sounds lovely - it's a good idea of his to have a keepsake book about our blanket for Smoky.

To all you Wooligans - I can't tell you how stunned I am at this phenomenal response to what was just a 'thinking out loud thought' at the very beginning - just 25 days ago! The photos you have been posting on here and on the Yahoo group show such a lot of talent and the time and effort so generously given is mind-blowing. You should all be really really proud of yourselves, especially as you all have busy lives.

Did the problem with the black DK get sorted? My local wool shop sells it at £1.30 100g ball. If you need any pm me and i can always see if she will discount it for me if i tell her the cause its for..(its worth a try)

Hi Lainey, its fine, you didnt make me feel pressured, i do that to myself! lol

The square is for the original HTA blanket and has been sent on to them. I doubt i will get the chance to do any more (I still have to aquire some dk wool) before you have enough for the smokelets blankets anyway and im sure i've read you have enough for Smokeys anyway.

I was thinking my next one would probably be a 7 inch one for the HTA (?) as by the time i have the wool the two blankets will have been finished.

Bit slow I know ( just wait until you lot reach my age!!) but are we doing a memory book for Smoky? Great idea, can someone tell me if there is a template sort of thing around, or is it up to ourselves what we say? Do we send it with the squares to Lainey or to someone else...well I said I was a bit slow didn't I, so ok a LOT slow, but humour me please!

welcome to our newest wooligan, greengrass:j yellow will be a great highlight colour.

had a bit of an idea today, mioliere thought that it would be nice if each of the wooligans had at least one square in Smoky's blanket, soooo........ I was thinking that if I hang on until I have received everyones squares in the post and keep them all in their respective envelopes(we'll know when we have enough by the running totals) I could then take one square from each package to start Smokys blanket off. That means that everyone one of will have contributed one square to her blanket regardless of when they joined the crew or how many squares they have sent in. Once I have used one from each of us I can then sort out the remaining squares by colour into Smoky's and each of the smokelets (i luv that word!) blankies.

What do you all think,let me know? Please say if you don't agree, I want us all to be happy with the finished article and the only way to do this is by voicing our thoughts.
also, please can you all put a little note saying who the squares are from, my OH thought it might be nice to put them all in a kind of keepsake book to include with the blankets (big softy!) again, let me know waht you think about this?

I agree that it would be a great idea to have at least one square from each of us - small request from me...I posted 2 squares to you on Monday, and if only one is to be used for Smokey I should like it to be the tree of life one because I was particularly thinking about her as I knitted it.

Hi Meanmarie - Lainey's DH suggested a 'keepsake' book - is that what you meant? 'Keepsake' or 'memory' book - the idea of a book with all our personal messages in it is absolutely brilliant. We all have time to write something while Elaine is sewing up (bless her little cotton socks), so something from each of us would be lovely, I think. What does everyone else think? I'm quite happy to make a book up and put in everyone's letter or card or whatever else they choose. I think we should leave it up to everyone to choose how they do it, so there will be no need for a template.

PIGPEN - stripes are lovely! I like them, too!

Hello all you busy Wooligans, after a painfull restless night I gave up trying to sleep so got up at 5.10 and managed to knit another 2 squares 1 navy (boy) and 1 lemon (girl)
Lainey .... I am posting those 2 off today along with a red one and a jade one, so 4 in total.
Hope you received the 5 I sent yesterday, posted 1st class.
Mioliere --- What a great idea to make the memory book, well named, as I know our thoughts for Smokie will never be forgotten by any of us.

pigpen - are your squares for the smokelets? i like strpies too!
Just a thought on the notes. I don't want folk thinking they have to write anything too profound, if they only want to put 'love from.....' that would be fine, it's entirely up to you guys. I thought I could pick up a pretty note book and just stick the notes in the pages. too be honest I was a boit taken aback when My Oh suggested this as he's not one for showing a sentimental side,lol. He's glad you like the idea though.
mrs moneypenny , i know you have already sent your squares so I'll just write a note on your behalf if you like.
or if anyone wants to send me a PM and I'll print it off and stick it in, that would work too.
