I've been trying to get though to cancel for ever since I got my renewal letter.
Every time I call the 0800 435 980 I get, "all our operators are busy dealing with a high volume of emergency calls, please call later" and then it hangs up on me
Can you cancel using the Customer Relations number?
Think I will try that number tommorow as I have had no luck contacting them on the cancelation number, just rings for ever ,or maybe thats deliberate so we give up and continue membership.0 -

Far too often to be a coincidence now.
I wonder how many people have been caught out by this policy?0 -

As I stated in my previous posting :For anyone affected by the AA's incomptence....Try escalating and/or complaining to Andrew Goodsell, SAGA/Automobile Association (AA) Chief Executive, via sending him an email to Andrew.Goodsell@saga.co.uk.0 -
Last year my AA membership was £76.50. This year's renewal notice was for £166.50! I rang to say I'd be taking my business elsewhere but before I had a chance to say anything the guy said "We'll give you a special discount and your new premium will be £77.50." I'm not a 'loyal' customer as last year was my first one. I'm not a 'good' customer as I called them out three times - and saved myself hundreds of pounds in mechanic/garage bills. So, not quite sure why I got a discount but am happy with it anyway. If you don't like their renewal quote, don't accept it and you'll almost certainly get a better one.0

Well it pays to phone them up,got through quiet quickly today and said I had a cheaper quote of £80 and they matched it without any problem so saved £40.00, wished I said I could get the same cover for £60 now0

All this haggling is well and good, but is it something you ever thought you would be doing in the market for an end of a roll carpet, or with a bluechip company to insure probably your most expensive possesions?0

I was quoted £208, was then offered a discount - see earlier post - but it was not enough, so I cancelled.
Letter confirming cancellation arrived a few days later.0 -
I was quoted £166 for the renewal. On their website, they were doing the same combination for £99.
I phoned their cancellation line, and they could offer me £80 off (so £86).
Still wasn't good enough though - because I can get £42 through TopCashBack when I take out the £99 deal.
Chap on the end of the phone at the AA was lovely - was really interested in the TCB offer, and said he'd be looking at the site himself when he got home!
Let's just hope that they did cancel the renewal though - from what I've read here, I need to check my statements in case.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Hi all,
Same boat for me I'm afraid!! Not notification, and today my subs got taken out. And I've been a member for ages!!
Trying calling, but was on hold for a lifetime. Email sent, we'll see how that goes!!People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me that I have an I.Q. of 48 and am what some people call mentally !!!!!!.0 -
Well, they have certainly tried it on again.
We got the renewal notice, £150+
Rang to cancel, and got an offer of £105. Said no, and were assured we would not have the policy renewed.
About a week later, we received another set of cards, thanking us for staying.
We rang again, they assured us it was cancelled, and it was just the computer.
Today we received a letter, they have tried to take the money (the £155+), but couldn't, as the direct debit had been cancelled.
Would we like to contact them to pay, or send a cheque?
Must be the computer again eh?0
