We have 2 Grandsons, 3yrs. & 1yr, living in Australia. They are the children of our eldest Son & his Australian wife.
Have just had our 1st. visit to see them & discussed setting up an acct. over here for them instead of posting out toys etc. As it is unlikely we can see them for some years now, would like them to have this as a gift from us when they reach adulthood.
We are retired now, Could you Please advise, may thanks. :0 -
Hi all, I have an egg savings account which I have not used for a few years although it does have a few pence in to keep it running. I now want to start saving £500.00 per month. I think the egg account is giving 4.5% is this competative? I do not see Egg appearing much in the best deals information.0

ICICI Bank HiSave Internet account
Martin’s advice to first deposit a small amount and then test the service is excellent advice. I did test the HiSave Internet service before moving a large amount from my ING savings account. Setting up the account and using it was long winded and complicated compared to ING. I also had difficulty being understood on the phone by the ICICI people and also understanding what was being said to me.
Then, when I first tried to transfer money from my HiSave account to my linked bank account I was unable to do so as ICICI admitted on the phone they were having server problems. I was told to try again tomorrow.
While these are probably just teething problems, I have decided to just leave £1 in my HiSave account and stick with ING even though their savings rates have been dropping. If they fall once more I might try HiSave again.
P.S. Having just read the thread "ICICI HiSAVE - Odd experience" I think I will just close the HiSave account and stay with my easy to use and trusted ING account. Wish I had read that thread before I applied to ICICI.0 -
I'm looking at making the most interest as possible over six months on some wedding money. Will be moving some money from regular saver's (HSBC and Halifax) and wondered which account recommended. Total about £6000-7000. Was thinking monthly interest best - but with whom?0

Welcome to the forums!
First Direct offer monthly interest of 5% Gross/AER but the catch is that you don't receive any interest in the month that you withdraw the money.
Take a look at this site - it may give you some other options.

Hope this helps.0 -
