I have a Alliance and Leicester a/c that has just dropped it's rate and the interest will not go in until first of September. I am going to close the A/C but dont know if I am best to leave it until I get the interest or to close it now.
    Can someone advise please
If you close it now, they will transfer the full balance plus interest earned up to the closure date into your linked bank account, so you lose nothing. Alternatively, if you prefer, you could withdraw all but £1 by electronic transfer and wait until the interest is paid (1 Sept) before closing the account.

Watch out for Alliance & Leicester cash back when you open an account offer. I am still waiting two months after I opened my account to get the cash offer.
I shall not let it drop though.
It will cost them more in their time to fob me off than just paying me what I am entitled to.

I am still waiting after 3 months now  . I had a letter from them yesterday saying 'our investigations are taking longer than expected. A detailed reply will be sent within the next 28 days'

Anybody got this or is it a comeon???

Has anyone managed to join ICICI bank as suggested by Martins Money, I completed the online application 3 weeks ago and haven't yet had an email.

I joined and it took about 4 weeks. Heard very little for 3 weeks then email informed me of online access code. Password followed by post 2 days later. Made first transfer of money between on-line accounts and it all seems fine. 5.4% on my savings - Thanks Martin!

I applied on 30 June. Got email acknowledgement and request to send £1 cheque on 11 July. Sent cheque that day but haven't heard anything else since. Cheque hasn't been presented as yet so guess their post-room operates very slowly.

Further to my previous posts about this I have now had a letter telling me the offer was £20 in January so they have given me £20. I opened the account March 1st. Can anyone tell me how I can really find out what A&L offer was on that date, I know it went up to £50 at one point.
Anyway my wife is opening her own account and getting £25, I will get £50 for recommending her and she will get another £50. I am sending the application recorded delivery just in case and we will probably close both accounts next year.
