Toothpaste is one thing I won't compromise on. I buy mine in the health food shops because I prefer to buy the non-fluoridated type.
Well that's just about the biggest compromise you can make! It's the most useful ingredient. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I did a family fortune survey thing of about 30 dentists at work one day and nearly all of them said they used Colgate Total:D:D:D:D"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0

Moot point. It is a toxic waste product of the aluminium and fertiliser industries. I'd rather my children didn't ingest it thanks. Apart from anything else too much causes fluorosis of the teeth. My children don't have any fillings, and I attribute that to the fact that I have never bought them "sticky" sweets which stick to the teeth and they brush properly. I also refuse to buy anything labelled "toothkind" or "sugar free" because artificial sweeteners are also toxic.0 -

No it isn't, that's complete urban myth invented by anti-fluoridation nutters.
The only thing put into toothpaste (Or water in the few areas where it is added) is
pharmaceutically pure flouride salts. They aren't the 'waste product' of anything.
Too much fluoride does indeed cause fluorosis, but even in water fluoridated areas incidence of this to a degree visible to the naked eye in normal light is rare, and would only follow chronic over-consumption, such as kids routinely putting way too much toothpaste on a brush, and swallowing most of it, or kids regularly eating toothpaste. How to find a dentist.

Boyes are everywhere - or so I believeI know there's one in Louth and Grimsby anywho (Ooooh, ETA they're actually a northern thing, I never knew that

I'm really on the bones at the minute and needed toothpaste. I bought Morrisons Betterbuy toothpaste 23p a tube today. Is it ok? it feels a bit gritty and not very minty tasting. Anyone use it or got any thoughts?”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

If it has fluoride in it, then I can't see it doing much harm.
The Colgates etc with their antibacterials are better, but a cheapy for a while won't loose you your teeth.
It's more the time spent brushing that does the good rather than what's on the brush. How to find a dentist.

Hi Guys
I am new to the board. Can I just say that I love reading all your comments and tips. Have already started to get some ideas on how to save.
Am trying to cut down on my weekly shopping bill - now I normally buy Colgate (normally get the BOGOF but sometimes that is still around £3.50) or other leading brand toothpaste but thought that I would try Sainbury's/Tesco's/Superdrug's own brand. I go to the dentist every six months and was told by my dentist that as long as I have checkups, it does not really matter what toothpaste you use.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
