I've tried all different types of mop over the years, sponge/microfibre/supersqueegee etc but I always end up going back to ye olde string mop & bucket. Nothing else seems to clean as well and they're also great for getting into all the little nooks & crannies like down the side of the cooker.

I totally agree, I have a normal mop and a Flash power mop or whatever it's called and I think the normal mop wins hands down and it cost about £2 compared to the flash mop which was £17 plus it needs refills AND more juice when it runs out!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm gonna go with a "proper" OS style stringy mop.

Next question.....where's the best place to buy one and bucket with a wringer thingy , cheaply but good quality.

    Thanks in advance :)

Recently bought a new mop, the squeezy type but it leaves the floor so wet I have to go over it with a cloth to dry it off, otherwise it takes forever to dry. The JML Twister mop they advertise on the telly looks good but does it really to what it says, opinions on their site vary. I've got a muddy garden, a dog and a cat and a large kitchen so anything that will make the job easier would be welcome. Any recommendations please?

No idea, but I'll watch this thread for replies - I keep buying mops and end up chucking them away because they don't do the job properly so I'm in the same boat as you! :D

    I hate mops :D

I use a towel that is ready for washing, spray the floor with whatever you like to use, then (with shoes on) skid about the floor on the towel :D

Then the towel goes straight in the washing machine.

I have a teeny tiny kitchen and bathroom but this works well and I don't have to store a mop or bucket.

I have the e-cloth one from lakeland and I love it! It was expensice to buy initially but you put the cloth bit in the washing machine and I've had mine for over a year and not had to buy a replacement cloth

the other goo dpoints for the e-cloth are you don;t need any chemicals and it leaves the floor almost dry so less chance of children or pets trailing in when it's still wet...lol
