Hi Nicoll
This gets discussed quite often on Old Style, and there is a thread discussing "what do you use to clean your kitchen floor?"
I can either merge your thread with that one, or move it to I wanna - do let me know which suits you better
I had a vileda for years but it died recently (rotted after about 7 years?)./ Think i might invest in a srting mop as no other gets in corners like them!
thanks

I like the shredded j cloth type ones. The bucket I bought recently from Aldi or Lidl, sorry I can't remember which, had a small reservoit under the wringer so that some of the dirty water collected in there. If I wasn't such a slatternly cow, it may have been deep enough to catch it all. I did think hmm if I wash the floor again tomorrow that will be ideal. If only thinking could get it done.0

What I would like is a bucket that is divided in two so that the compartment under the wringer is separate from the clean water. While I'm looking for the ideal I'd like a mini-mangle to wring with rather than a basket to push the mop on!0

Feel free to merge this, should find some more advice in the other thread too thenThere is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion0

I have two big dogs so can sympathise with you. Although they live outdoors (dont slate me here - I live in hot country
) they are allowed into the kitchen to get out of the heat.
My kitchen floor is now tiled with grey tiles as the doggie footprints are  most of the time....... espcially when raining. Okay, so I've had a glass of wine - so rambling :rotfl:
I've had every type of mop on the market, and every time I come back to the old string mop (a good quality one though, coz you can buy really thin cheapie ones). With a good splash of floor cleaner, in a bucket with a wringer on top..

I also am a fan of the old fashioned string mops - I find the J-cloth ones wear out too fast. That said, I have to admit that the best way over all is on your knees with a scrubbing brush - tho you don't half ache the next day!0

I think i might get one of these when they are back in stock! bit pricey but will do the job nicely i think.Time to find me again0 -
Found a more appropriate thread to merge it too - here . Sorry for the confusion

Having promised to report on microfibre mop after using it, I did not use it, instead I scrubbed the floor with a microfibre glove (also from Lakeland) on my hands and knees, as the bathroom is small and the corners quite awkward.
Love the double bucket, I also have a "regular" mop and I think that is a great idea! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Ive got a steam cleaner which cost around £35 from Argos a few years back - It cleans carpets does upholstery, curtains etc, strips wallpaper, steam cleans ovens bbqs.defrosts the freezer and..........steam cleans floors. Why on earth are people prepared to pay another £35 for one which isnt so versatile?
its an Earlex btw and i have no idea how much Argos are selling them for now.
Oh i forgot - my OH has used it to give the car engine a steam clean - and the decking!0
