Nothing exciting today. Was up at the crack of dawn to answer some Ebay queries that I should have done last night, but I fell asleep instead, so had to do them first thing. Another item has sold, so that's another £5 in the holiday kitty.

Day off work tomorrow which is pay day and I am going to be paying some bills. I don't have a cheque book so certain bills like my factor's fees are a nightmare as I have to take a day off to go to their office and pay in cash. Not half a nuisance.

Booked tickets to see a play next week which was written by a guy the year below me at school. It's all about growing up in my home town. Should be interesting!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Not having a good one :(

Did the Budget calculator and asked OH what he earns ( I know,it's stupid, I don't even know!!). He was a bit defensive and then said 'around 30k'. He is self employed and I know that it is probably a bit more as salaried people doing his job earn around 50k. I suddenly thought - what the !!!! am I doing with my life, struggling along financially basically on my own. I earn a pittance now - I'm going to have to supplement my AQA salary with savings AGAIN this month because we went on holiday and so couldn't work and I suddenly feel a real mug. He makes a contribution of about £70 a month to the food and nothing else - it took me 4 years to get him to do that! He is here every night using the power, hot water etc. He has his own place which he pays the mortgage etc on, but pays virtually nothing for the gas and electric as he is at work or here! He showers here every day, he never puts the heating on at his place and never cooks there either.

Just want to cry. Did for a bit because I felt angry. A year ago I was earning almost 30k and now I'm living on very little. Even with my new job starting next week, I'll only be on around 15k a year (including AQA) and it's just not enough. There is no point in asking him to pay more because he will get defensive and to be fair he does pay all the utilities on a larger house so his outgoings aren't wildly different to mine.

Just a bit sick of scrabbling around doing Quidco, pigsback etc just to pull a few pennies together when I'm not even in debt.

I'm off to see my doggy and probably have a cry. He'll give me a lovely big cuddle and a slobbery doggy kiss.

I don't know what suddenly made me feel so angry - I know he isn't deliberately taking me for a ride, but it is a mixture of 'it's not fair' and 'another consequence of what the !!!!! did to me' to have to have left my well paid job in the first place - I would have been on 30k this year with increments. :(

Sorry.............:( I'll probably feel a bit better after I've had a doggy hug.

Oh Keren sending you a dodgy group hug :grouphug:. Does you partner understand how tight things are for you? You know Men unless you spell it out for them, they go on regardless completely unaware. I def think he should be contributing more towards utilities if he is always at yours, or maybe just say you need more for the groceries as the cost of living has gone up and that amount just won't cover it.

Who knows where this job might lead to as well, so don't get down about it before it even starts. I think they will see your potential and over qualified to do the job and sideline you to something better within 6 months....

Chin up girl, I know its raining and your not in the sun anymore but you have all us DFW here for you ;)
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Keren - sorry you are feeling so down I agree he should be contributing a bit more to you and you need to talk to him about it sooner rather than later.

IA - at your first party for AS get everyone to fill in a customer contact card - put them all in a pot and at the end of the night pick one as a winner of a small prize (cheap bottle of wine or piece of your kit) then keep all the contact details - about 2 weeks after the party ring them all and say Hi do you rememebr the partty you went to - would you be interested in holding one etc etc

Feeling less grumpy today - DH made up for missing my Bday yesterday by getting a card and flowers when i sent him to the chinese ( i know not money saving but got £20 from mum for B'day) - also when i went to pick him up from the dentist and realised he had been there for 2 hours and had 8 fillings in a oner felt a little sorry for him!

Hey all, hope everyone i shaving a good day.

Thought I'd join in today as I really need to focus and in all truth need a bit of a pick me up.

I started a new role in work on Monday and am struggling a bit to get on top of things and to top it all off I had to move for the privalege of the job! I mean work are paying my rent here but I have to pay it all up front and then claim it back so I had to borrow on one of my CC to have the cash to do it - so feeling abit pants about that as everything is soo tight too.

Anyway enough of me rambling, nearly lunch time:)

Get a lodger - a young, good looking preferably Italian/South American Rikki MArtin type who walks around your flat semi-naked... a) the view will cheer you up b) you'll have start spending more time at OH's to get privacy but he'll be desperate to move the party to his place so he doesn't feel inferior plus c) you'll be raking in the rent whilst ramping up the OHs heating/water bill....
  • Hey everyone,

    Hope you are all well.

Had a bit of a lazy morning today - I'm not dressed yet!!! I have been doing some uni work, so it hasn't been completely wasted.

I have had some great news today which has really cheered me up. It doesn't affect any of my debt, but it has made me a happy bunny.

    Love,
