Speeding Prosecution...?

And if I was to take the same training, that would mean it was ok for me to exceed the speed limits?
Yes, if you were using the vehicle for Police, Fire Ambulance or Soca purposes, and the observance of the speed limit would hinder the use the vehicle was being put to at the time. Also from possibly later this year all emergency drivers need to have a certificate of high speed driver training to comply with the Road Safety Bill, but we all know down the pub it is only used for getting home for tea
oh and we also know motorists only speed for 100 yards or so to safely complete an overtake or to get away from someone who was following them, except my missus who get done for going over the speed limit at 7am on a deserted road at 37 mph, nobody else on the road and unfortunately she wasnt overtaking, she just forgot and wasnt watching her speedometer ? Now that's a new one, maybe she can get off with that :rotfl:0 -

I really think you should consider your wish to have your say, compared to the extra financial cost you will face and the addidtion points ?
A fixed penalty and fixed fine with only a written rant read by an admin clerk will raise a chuckle but restrict your fine and points.
Go to court, plead not guilty, listen to the officers evidence either served S9 by statement or in person, get found guilty as you are not entering a defence of any substance, and the court can then impose a fine plus costs and points as they see fit.
From experience, the average fine including costs is £125 - £150 and points between 3 -6
So the question is why raise a chuckle in court, and have them laugh at your expense, you will not be the first or last to get caught, so think about it personally and get on with life.
Lovely if she did get off and I didnt get scammed an extra £70 for the car insurance, however, you view of laws not applying 24/7 and only in certain circumstances really doesnt hold water. Also you dont have to go to the Town Hall and Village meetings where the police get scathed for not supporting dropping speed limits on a road where the residents say is a race track, and what are the police going to do about it ? bit of a no win situation ?0 -
Take a look at this...

I wonder what would happen if you were allowed access to one of these cameras to see what speeds they record on 'stationery' objects.....!
hope there's some useful info in there...!If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

...if you were doing 42 in a 30 limit...
35mph is allowed (10% + 2mph) and these cameras have recorded 'slippage' of over 8mph on stationery objects so you can argue that the evidence is unreliable. However that is your choice! If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Enough is enough to what ? Raise all speed limits to the fastest car, scrap speed limits, apply speed limits to blokes in flat caps and terriers ? enough is enough to complying with all laws or only laws which you fail to observe ?
Let me know your court date as I only work up the road and travel though most days, I will come and support you ; ) although I didnt do the same for my missus, but I did have a rant.0 -
this is part of the coppers statement (i was operating a pro laser hand held speed detection device number 16265 without recording facilities) so it looks like its just his word against mine? can anyone tell me if they need physical proof?0

My understanding is that most police also do not recieve special driver training and yet they are often exceeding the speed limits and quite often are the cause of accidents and deaths as a result.
Any Police Officer who drives under blue light conditions has to pass a 3 week driving course to enable them to do so and many fail.
Traffic coppers do an additional 4 week course and a lot of forces current failure rate is around 50% so it is quite hard to do. Unlike modern driving tests where you seem to get a licence for spelling your name right.0 -
It may also be worth noting that from May 1st when the new corporate manslaughter laws came in to effect. Most Police officers who drive on emergency runs will have to pass another qualifying test.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
