Hmmm. It's difficult to argue with that. They can allow you 10% plus 3.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

42 in a 30, you don't need a camera, calibrated on not to be able to spot thatIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Then you're obviously not aware that the devices known as LTI 20/20's (which clocked me) are banned thoughout the USA because a defence lawyer obtained one, used it across the courtroom on a laminated sigh and managed to ascertain the stationary sign was doing 8mph.
I'll bite the bullet on this one, I'll write to the inspector and plead that I thought it was a 40 zone and see if I can get off with a speed awareness course instead.0 -
I don't want to be Mr Annoying..... But if you were speeding and you got caught...Pony up the dough, accept your punishment and don't get caught next time. The 3 points are unlikely to affect your insurance too much.
Unless you were really well over the limit and have to go to court?
By the way how many MPH were you over the limit?
What, like the drivers here did:

If I was a lawyer I'd have to ask the OP whether they were really speeding or not before taking on the case. I'm inclined to take the same attitude here.0

For the record, I was allegedly clocked doing 42 in a 30 zone by a mobile camera. It was almost 150 metres away. I'm not prepared to go to court because the cps will favour the law unless I have thousands to spend on a lawyer and device experts.
If you consciously stick to the limit and are pretty sure you weren't travelling at the alleged speed, then by all means fight it.
If you know you there's a good chance you were speeding, it's probably best to take it on the chin and pay up. Going to court will most likely only result in a bigger fine and probably some costs.0 -
Hi,
If you are sure you were driving and think you might have been speeding, but are pretty sure you were not doing the alleged 42, I would argue it.... as they are suggesting you were lamost 50% over the limit....
Police and the camera's have been proven to be unrealiable many times.... of course it is not cheap to defend yourself, so it's best to weigh up the pro's and con's (try getting an insurance quote to see what how much of an increase you would face...).
I don't condone speeding, but as I was charged (and found not guilty in a court of law) of doing 100mph + on a motorway I know the police (and equipment) are wrong on occasion..
Good luck,
Pepipoo.com is certainly a place to check!

this is a rough draft i wrote on the pc before i sent them a letter please forgive spelling mistakes ect cant be bothered writing it all out again lol still waiting for a reply though lol
I am a private hire taxi driver in the city of york, and live in selby .I work the night shift so make the journey to and from work most nights of the week using the A19 .In the early hours sat 16/02/2008 2am i was driving home and a car in front of me was doing approx 50 miles per hour as we came to a straight stretch of the road where i could see ahead for about one mile i postitioned myself to over take safely ,after i completed the manouver i noticed a traffic car to my right hidden in a lane facing the a19.He pulled out and began to follow me at that point i was doing 60 mph he was behind me for approx half of a mile then he put his lights for me to stop witch i complied imedietley .he asked me to sit in the back of his car the he asked if i knew the speed limit on this road? i said yes its 60 mph he said he clocked me at 70 mph then i said only perhaps at the time of overtaking Then he proceeded to caution me .I protested due to the fact that the road was empty and it was 2am with no cars apart from the vehicals mentioned .But was just met with a wall of silence and then when i tried to ask his to see reason he started asking me for insurance details ect there was no comprimise at all he would not answer any of my questions as to why he felt i needed to be stopped as i felt there was nothing wrong with my driving but i was just up against a wall of silence.I feel i have been a victim of unreasonable over policing .there was no danger or near danger at all in my driving i just cant understand why it should result in a criminal conviction my job depends on good driving with public safety in mind i cant afford 3 points on my licence just because of over zealous policing .As a taxi driver in york i am always keeping an eye out on things to help the police just the other night i called the police because there was a drunk man walking down the A64.And more than once the police have flagged me down to take someone home from town so they can get that person out of the way .Taxi drivers are always glad to help the police it would be nice if they would show us some consideration .All this has done is made me feel why should i help the police keep the town safe when your traffic police are hiding in lanes looking for easy targets.I hope you can see reason after reading this letter ?but if you decide to continue with this prosecution i would appreciate an eary response as i intend pleading not guilty on the gounds of over zelouse policing0 -
What evidence does the Police Car have? They can't say you were speeding when they do not have documented proof on a camera.0
