  • ...hi...this free modem that you get + p&P ...is it any good? ..or would it be better to bye one seperately?

...thinking of switching over to E7even from dialup ....Fast4 have irritated me for the last time.
  • From what I have heard they seem to be OK - and at just £8.50 postage - they are certainly a bargain !

Remember to check the e7 referrers thread as it will help you to cover the cost of the postage for the modem !

Also - definately swap to broadband - it is so much better than dial up and the e7 deal makes it only a tiny bit more expensive!
    To infinity and beyond!
  • ..Ok cheers m8 ......will have a look - gonna get 1mb connection beefed up to 2

You can pay monthly now too, it seems

I signed up with e7even about 6 weeks ago under that double-speed ie 1Mbps for 512kbps price & free connection & a free modem @£10/m for 24m = £240. I paid by credit card so have comeback against credit card company should e7even cease to deliver at anytime during those 2 years. No complaints so far. Have noticed only 2 interruptions to the ADSL link and they lasted only a few minutes.

The BIGGEST contrast to any other ISP I've ever used is that they REPLY to emails PROMPTLY (within a couple of hours, sometimes MINUTES) and actually provide a PERTINENT response - ie they do actually READ what you've written and RESPOND to it in English! I had been most recently with BTopenworld who took longer to send just an automated "we've received your email and someday may send you an mail with something about a question similar to the one you posed, if you're lucky, and may not reply at all...".

Another perk is that you can use their smtp server to send outgoing mail using your past/inherited/historic email a/cs - VERY convenient.

As I say - I'm pleased so far, and thanks to mike_paterson for making we aware of e7even's existence here on MSE as otherwise I'd have been paying Tiscali a lot more for a lot less!
  • Hi,

I too signed upto the 1meg for 512 offer but they didnt give me a free modem so i had to buy my own. Which is OK as i wanted wifi.

However a week after my line was activated e7even put a special london olympics deal on, which was 2meg for £10. I so kicked my self for not waiting but my brother signed up and i got 20bux.

I emailed e7even in a huff and they said they would have an offer for existing customers soon and to watch the website for news/info.

Anyway to cut a long story short i regret signing up for the 1 year deal as i would like to go back to telewest as they now give 2meg uncapped for £17.99. or 4meg for £25

On e7evens part i am happy with the service as it hasnt had any downtime and i have never had a need to ring any tech support numbers. The email support is very good. However i still cant get binary newgroups! although i can download pretty much everything else....

    just my 2 cents...

    Regards

    Rewob

I was actually tempted by this ISP (e7even) until I read about their tendency to invade your privacy...
