E7 have a great new offer to celebrate their second birthday.
You get a free double speed upgrade and a free ADSL modem (while stocks last it says)
This offer is open until the end of August but get in quick for the free modem !
You also get a static ip address (some others charge) unlimited email addresses, and also a free .uk domain name registration and hosting if you have ever fancied your own website!
The connection is uncapped - so no additional charges for using it too much ;-)
As some of you will know, I have been with e7 for a year now, and they have been great.
Their customer support has 3 options:
1) Very expensive help line
2) Monthly payment of additional £5
3) Excellent free email support (the best I have ever experienced form ANY company !).
If you are good technically and confident, then option 3 is certainly good enough for most eventualities. If you are not so confident, then I would suggest opting for the £5 contract and then cancelling it once you are up and running.
This is cheap as chips though the product is great - true money saving IMO !
Only downside to this offer - you need to sign up for a minimum 12 months (£50 connection fee). You can also sign up for 24 months and the connection fee is waived - Take your pick.
There is a referrers board thread that has some advice and also can save you more money ! If not you can go direct to E7even

Another downside is you have to pay the contract up front.0 -
How much does it cost to ring them for Technical Advice??0

Too much - £1 a minute or something stupid that's why I recommend the monthly support to start with.To infinity and beyond!0

I recently connected to e7even and have found them excellent so far. They are one of the cheapest broadband providers around. Why does Martin never mention them? His recommendation, UK Online at £9.99, is only available in a few areas - the e7even service is available from any broadband enabled BT exchange.
If you are looking for a broadband provider and are prepared to pay for two years in advance, this is a great deal. A word of advice, make sure you pay by credit card for added protection just in case. My first dial-up ISP went bust and I was able to claim everything back from the credit card company.0 -
This isn't the best e7even deal. I signed up about 6 weeks ago and got a free router with no postage and double speed from 512kb to 1mb. Their offers are a bit like buses. If you don't like the current one there will be another one along later. Once onboard I was offered an upgrade to 2mb for another £45.
They are without doubt one of the best value isps around. The email support is great although I've only used it once but they were spot on with their diagnosis. You can also earn some cash by referring people to them.
I would recommend paying by credit card to give you some protection as you are signing up in advance.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0 -
I decided to go the wireless route, and it is great - well worth the expense.silverfoxdude wrote:i am looking to change my supplier bt seem to be useless when it comes to networking i can only get 1mb through my telephone line i want a router type modem i have about 15 meters of cable between pcs or im willing to consider wireless in your opinion mike what should i do the bt 205 voyeuger router is useless
I bought a Corega wireless modem router firewall box that was easy to setup. My laptop was already wireless ready, but I just bought a wireless card for the kisd PC and so they can be connected too.
The equipment is now getting very cheap. Let me know your setup and I'll try to recommend something.
Cheers

What did you pay for the original sign up?
Was it cheaper than the present offer?
I already have a router, so am looking for a cheap BB rate

Same as always - £240 for two years. I was expecting a 2 port router ( USB + 1 ethernet port ) but got a USB + 4 instead. Either a mistake or replacement because they had run out. Made by Safecom so nothing special though.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0
