Big problems in printing wirelessly from my laptop
Comments
-
ok instead of looking for computer/printer by ip addy, try looking for it by name..
eg not \\192.168.0.3\Printer2
use eg \\desktop B ( the exact name of the computer on the network)\Printer2...
the computer name should be list when you right click my computer icon on the desktop...
at least this way it will eliminate any problems relating to ip addresses0 -
The printer is now added OK and it printed fine once I'd made those changes in ZA.
But after I rebooted both computers, printing now fails, as the laptop appears not to be able to see the printer any more.0 -
Have you installed the drivers for the printer on all machines that will print to it?
It should be a 5 min job XP to XP.
You try it when you have a VISTA machine, first time took me 4 hours, 2nd time 30 minutues and last time 10 minutes.
And if there are no VISTA drivers your stuffed.0 -
If you hard coded the printer first time, delete it and browse for it.
I don't know what 'hard coded' means, sorry...Have you installed the drivers for the printer on all machines that will print to it?
When I added the printer it warned me that it would be installing the driver. And, of course, it did print until I rebooted the computers.0 -
I've deleted the printer and tried to add it again. Got the error message 'Windows cannot connect with the printer' etc.0
-
Oh, hang on, this time I browsed for it instead of typing in the address, and it found it.
I've managed to print from it.
BUT this happened last time. It was fine.
And then after I rebooted, it couldn't see it again.0 -
I have rebooted. And it can still see the printer!
I'm not holding my breath that it'll stay that way (!) so I may be back whingeing and pleading for help again soon. But I'm crossing my fingers!
Thank you all for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate it. :j0 -
If you have set a static address then did you set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 ?? If not please do it.0
-
Yes, they are both set to that.
Have rebooted yet again, and can still see printer.
So maybe all is well!0 -
