My surplus for saving this month took quite a battering as I got myself a girlfriend which meant more expensive days out than normal. But well worth it. Went to the zoo. Saw the giraffes. I love giraffes.

    Anyways, moving on...

Did some matched betting which added a further £190 to the pot this weekend and even managed to do one of those free bingo sites and got £32 from that. All in all productive weekend!

Need to tot everything up tonight but also got my ISA interest paid of just under £500 so was very very suprised it was so much!

    Hi All

Been browsing for a while and now taking the plunge to join, me and my twin are trying to save for a deposit. we so far have approx 7k so a long way to go yet, thinking 20% should be good?

sister's on min wage, me on a bit more but do live with parents still. (however very strained at home, kinda get the impression they want us out now)

    wish us luck!

    Hi Guys

I have been saving up to buy a property since I left uni 15 years ago (!) and although ive now (finally!) got a substantial deposit, my salary isnt great and my partner is disabled and is in receipt of benefits. I have been told that one can only get 3 x a single salary or 3 x a couples salary/income these days. Can anyone tell me what counts as income when you take out a mortgage? Can I include my partners annual income from benefits?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Failed to save £1000 this month for the first time in 8 months as bought and paid for luxury caribbean holiday (£1660 for 2 weeks each!) so only put away £500. But, have to live a bit as well as save ........don't I???

    I like people's updates too-
but I have to admit I'm feeling very dispondant ATM.

We were thinking...desperately...of bidding on something at auction this week, and it all changed again. There is another place I've seen advertised for over a year, a very different thing from what we were lookiong for, but I might go and look at it. For personal reasons it makes sense to buy ASAP, or us, but that may mean me changing my future plans just to make the purchase. we've giving ourselves the deadline of March 2010 to make some sort of decision on what to do if we don't find and buy somewhere right for us. Just desperately trying to save more by then.

DH's father made a wonderfully generous gift of £2k to put towards a car, thinking mine was old enough that we'd get £2k under the car scrap scheme, but its not :o so we're going to stick that in the house fund too and continue daily prayers over my high milage car. :o
