I'm on board! I love seeing the numbers rise but then quite like this chit chat thread. I'd join though, count me in
Well if it's only us two then at least we can spur each other on!
Do you think it belongs on this board or on Savings?
I like this chit chat thread too and don't want to take anything away from it. However, the initial thread was started 4 years ago and I would love the 'challenge' aspect of it. I guess I'll start a post and see what the response is like.DFBX2013: 021 :j seriousDFW £0 [STRIKE] £3,374[/STRIKE] 100% Paid off

I, personally wouldn't want this thread to be a "challenge" thread. If you want a challenge thread there is the "save £12,000 in 12 months" thread. Join that. The beauty of this thread is that it recognises the ups and downs of saving. For instance, on a challenge thread if someone misses a few targets, they stop posting. On here we don't. There's no pressure.0 -
Me too! I've previously looked for a challenge thread as I think it keeps motivation.
Sorry to hear everyone is having rubbish months. It hasn't been a great month for me either. Good luck next week, Starbrite.0 -
I would definitely join in the challenge. I'm part of the save 12k in 2012 but I think it would be great to be part of a challenge with people completely focussed on a deposit for a property.
Must say though...think it's a tough job being the owner of a thread like that if you have a lot of people join as you'll have a lot of updates through!0 -
Thanks everyone for your kind words and luck, My fingers, toes and eyes are all crossed, I'm getting ready for the worst though. I have sent my CV to a few agencies and brought a new interview suit....... Rather look at the worst case scenario than think I'm going to stay at my current role to then be unprepared for the fall!
I hope everyone has a better September
*I think I'd like to join the challenge thread, but I'm not sure........Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!0 -
Well, as expected (and no more)!!! [wish I could save more each month than I do]...I have broken the 75% barrier (finally)
....so only 25% savings to go! (deposit, emergency savings, and fees & other costs/contingency)

Are people thinking they will look to buy as soon as they've reached their targets? What are people's opinions on whether houses will drop in price over the next few years? I don't really have a target as such, but I think im tempted to wait and see what happens to the market.0

i'm building, so as soon as i reach my target (we have a strict upper budget on our land as we know how cheap it goes) we will start looking, we may even start looking at auctions before that, while still saving to start building asap ofcourse.DEC GC £463.67/£450
