Having to pay out £430 for the car to be fixed, so wish £100 was going onto the car and £430 into savings!

Also have redundancy looming (Find out Mon/Tue) Not the best of mths for me......:o

Oh I did win £25 on premium bonds, Can't complain

Oh how stressful for you :( Hope mon/tue goes well.

Try to be positive atleast you added some better than staying stagnant or even worse dipping into your savings.

    No change here until monday.

In even more pessimistic mood from my previous post I've actually managed to save £0 this month.

    Must do better next time.

This has undoubtedly been the worst two months of this year. The bank takes £732 from my account over a disputed debt. I had to renew my license at the cost of £220. I also had to pay £120 for court fees in a claim I've brought against my bank. My landlady has informed us all the rent has to go up by £30 and my company has informed me, all agency staff have to go direct with the company or look for alternative employment. It works out I'll be £60+ a week worse off. There's more, but it deserves it's own thread.

    Current total £12,413

  • Sounds like it's been a bad month for quite a few people!

I won't be able to update until Monday, but thinks should be slowly plodding along as normal for me!

Hope next month is better for everyone, esp. those who've had a bad August.

  • Been a shocking month for me aswel. Put everything I had at start of August into an account as emergency fund and started afresh with deposit saving...I'v just hit £3,040 for the month. Great amount but been a terrible month. Took today and tomorrow off as was starting to get to me.

Aim is £10k by the end of year at minimum...so carrying that saving rate on I will be at £20k come April! Then time to take the plunge.

  • Would appreciate your opinions.

We have challenges over on DFW to become debt-free by a certain date and I'm looking for similar for saving my house deposit.

This tread is fantastic, but it would be great to have a first page that listed everyone who was saving for a deposit, along with how much they'd saved, the date they were aiming to save it by and the % they'd saved up to that point. Do you think this is something people would be interested in? It's like a summary of people's signatures in one place! e.g.

    #002 ...

If it is, could it be added to this thread, or should I start a new thread? I don't want to hijack someone else's, but would love to turn the house-deposit thing into a challenge to motivate me and others.

    What do you think?
