house prices are low here but just to give you an idea
£40,000, with a £8k deposit we could hopefully buy this time next year, roughtly £350 a month over 10 years, can over pay up to £1k, so in total would cost us £34k (plus our deposit) and we could own it out right in 3 years and 8 months

£80000, we'd have to do 50/50 co-ownership and stair gate, but it even means that out half will take longer to pay because we have to pay rent £90, it will cost us £35k so not that much more but we'd only own half and and take us 5 months longer

I'm in Brighton, well just outside but it's still classed as Brighton! (Actually I live about 10 minutes away from Frankie Cocozza;) I don't know him though) I've lived here all my life and hate the fact that I can't buy in my home town
I've lived in this area for about 8 years, previously in the main part of the town.

We're in the South too. I've been accepted to do my masters at Warwick or UCL (London) next year and myself and my wife who is originally from the midlands thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get on the market and get somewhere with a bit more space. If we wanted to buy here we'd have to wait and save for ages or live in a dodgy area so we've decided on a lovely area in a cheaper bit of the country.
A three bed where I am starts from around £350k for a semi/end of terrace. Ouch.0 -

I'm off on a trip to Vegas, Hawaii and LA today so will be gone for a couple of weeks. I've had to leave quite a bit in my account for outgoing direct debits, and some in the joint for DW to take DD out and pay for the bits they need but I transferred £40 today just to make me feel better. I'm looking forward to it but when we get back we're going up to where we're moving and staying in a hotel for a few days to have a look and maybe a couple of cheeky viewings so that'll be great. Plus money from our trip and pay should mean we can hit the 50% mark before the end of Feb. So excited as we may be able to save more than we originally thought.
DW gets her final degree mark on Feb 13th so we're going to have a frugal celebration as Valentine's is so close and have a home cooked meal or even - wait for it - splash out on the M and S meal dealWe've agreed no presents this year but I'm going to make her a scrapbook (I already have the stuff and the photos won't be much to print so I think it's budget-justified) Anyway I'm rambling. Good luck with your savings and "see you" all in a couple of weeks
