  • hi everyone,

we have just decided to start saving for a house deposit! eek! based on the current properties in my area we need about an £8k deposit but we are going to aim for £12k. I dont think i could get a decent mortgage until I finish uni and back in work so we are aiming for easter 2014! seems so far away!

    feels such a daunting task!

  • Hi everyone, I want to join the saving for a deposit club!
I've got £11,000 ish squirrelled away so far, but as I live in the South West I'm going to need a heftier deposit - aiming to save £5000 a year and ideal target is £30k - scary! Hopefully my boyfriend will be in a position to save within a year or two so 2014/15 is our target housebuying year.

So impressed by some people's totals on here - I wish I'd started saving a few years earlier! x

I've beaten my £1,000 target for the last 4 weeks, saving an additional £134. I should just about get to £50,000 by the end of the year :D

    Keep slogging along everyone :D

Its good to see young people like yourself with some sense to save at an early stage! I'm 22 now, have a good stash however I don't know any of my friends who have been putting any money away for a property :O

  • Hi, another newbie here. Feeling pleased to have finally got over the hurdle of £15,000 which seems to have taken forever. Just created a signature with our (slightly ambitious but doable) targets.

  • Hi All

I've followed this thread for a little while and thought I'd join myself as a little motivator. Im 26 and planning on buying my first house with my boyfriend next year at some point (the sooner the better!). We're looking for a 2/3 bed in Liverpool for £130-£140k. Saving towards a 15% deposit so thats roughly £21k. So far I've managed to save just over £13k but have got a long way to go by the time we go to see a mortgage advisor in June.

Really need to take up the £10 day challenge as I feel like I've been getting no where the last couple of months, but with Christmas its hard to save for both!

Any saving tips would be welcomed!

    Thanks all x
