LONDON--The increase in the claimant count measure of U.K.
unemployment rose at its slowest pace for 13 months in June, offering fresh
evidence that the worst of the recession has past, official data showed
Wednesday.
The Office for National Statistics reported that the jobless claimant count
rose 23,800 in June, compared with May's downwardly revised increase of 30,800. June's increase was almost half the 40,500 rise forecast by economists and the lowest monthly gain since May 2008.
The claimant count moved higher for the 16th month in a row, however, pushing the overall figure to 1.56 million, its highest level since July 1997. The
claimant count jobless rate rose to 4.8% in June from a downwardly revised 4.7% in May. It was last higher in October 1997.
Unemployment, according to the International Labor Organization measure, rose by 281,000 to 2.38 million in the three months to May. The quarterly increase was the highest since records began in 1971. The corresponding unemployment rate rose to 7.6%, up 0.9 percentage point from the previous three months.
Average earnings excluding bonuses were up 2.6% on an annual basis in the three months to May. That's the lowest rise since records began in 2001. It was expected to be up 2.7%. Including bonuses, average earnings were up 2.3% from a year earlier in the three months to May. That's an increase from April's upwardly revised 0.9% rise and tops expectations of a 2.1% increase. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

I think she is talking rubbish.
EuroZone is in deep deep trouble, and I can only see the Euro getting weaker.
Don't see the GBP/USD level moving out of the 1.60's for a long long time. I think it will stabilise around these levels for some time to come.
Big, big trouble according to the experts. This Euro bubble is bound to burst soon Inspector. I hope.0 -
