  • I have been browsing this thread for a while and just had to join so I could join in. Inspectormonkfish, you are fab. Thanks so much for the info you provide in this thread, it's been really valuable. I am going to France in a few weeks. Family of five on a budget, the exchange rate really makes a difference! At bottom twitch time now, when is the right time to buy the Euro. It seems as soon as we get some good news and the rate goes up, we are hit by bad news and it goes down again. Hey ho! Fingers crossed the pound finally gets a break then so will us Brits!

if you only have a few weeks to go, its probably not going to make alot of difference now.

rate looks as though it is going to hover around these levels for a while now. Prob got a slightly better chance of edging higher than it has lower i would guess, but i don't think there will be alot in it....

  • Ive been hunting around on this site for ages and just cant decide which is the best deal. Should I go ahead and buy my Euros using one of the best rated online sites or should I open up a Nationwide account and wait until Im out there to withdraw my Euros on a as needed basis?

I dont go to Ibiza until September so am just trying to sort it all now. Next stop insurance and airport parking.

  • Hello there. I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help me with!

I am currently in New Zealand but travelling to Europe in August. All of my savings are in New Zealand Dollars.

I am arriving in England and hold a British Passport. I plan to spend a few weeks in England and then travel to Spain and France for an indefinite period of time.

I am trying to work out how to best access my money.

Does it make sense to open an account in England and transfer all of my money there, even though I will be using Euros much of the time?

Is there an English bank that has particularly good rates for accessing money in continental Europe and converting money from pounds to Euro? Or is it possible to have Euros in an English bank account to avoid the conversion fees?

How easy is it to open an English bank account and how long does it usually take?

    Thanks for your help!
