  • Re the homework...

DD1 (7) is in J3 and Mon-Thurs has spelling, reading, maths/english worksheet (like a wordsearch for instance) and workbook page of either maths/english. Takes approx. 20-30 mins and is usually done with no fuss.

DS1 (5) is in J1 and had a reading book every night (changes on Wednesday) with either "tricky words" or a worksheet. The school guidlines for homework for J1 is that it should take 10 mins... in August - some nights it would take almost an hour - just because he didn't want to do it - now it take 10-15mins but his teacher sends home a lot more homework that DD1 had in J1...

Some nights I wish they didn't have to do it, but I don't really think the homework they have sent home is about the actual work - more to get them into the habit of doing homework. Although if the sun is shining they are out playing in the garden as soon as we get home. If it is raining then it is lego or whatever while I get supper ready. We normally have homework time at 6 (ish) and they are in bed for 7-7.15pm (although some nights it feels like you have just finished a marathon :o )

I loved school when I was little, but ended up being kicked out of mainstream school* at 15 so when I left school I had no qualifications :o *before you give me an ASBO I asked my guidance teacher for help dealing with an issue at home - he didn't do anything to help which made it worse. I will never forget his response - I guess I was just unlucky enough to fall through the gaps in the "system" So I am probably compensating for my lack of formal qualifications through my kids - just to achieve what they are capable of though ;)

    Happy Days :rotfl:

i am shattered but i have a spotless bathroom. think i'll stay in there for the rest of the week. i know, i know, i just need to do all the other rooms. i'll do some of monday's list after i've picked the children up from school. at least if my bedroom is nice that'll be somewhere tidy for me to chill out.

going to check my list and cross some bits off. i've got a maths evening at school tonight. they do this annually to show us what's being done and usually make us do some math. oh dear, i won't be able to do anything because i'm left handed!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

bother, the zip on my trousers has broken and they're the only ones i can get on on my own. will have to wear long tops so no ones sees!! :rotfl: lets hope they don't fall down on the school run:eek: :rotfl:

Homework - I feel really thick. DD knows far more than me. Esp Religious Education. Did you know that is the only compulsory subject in Scotland? I dont know any schools that dont bother with English and Maths though lol.

Need to crack on with my budgetting for the month and menu plans for this week. And various other paperworky things. When are we fitting in a HHE? ;)
