Me too. 4 is definitely too early and I regret sending my DD1 to school at that age. She had only turned 4 on 20th August! My DS didn't start school until nearly the end of Reception because we had moved back to South Africa (long story) so he was almost 5 (his birthday is 18th August). However in Year 1 he had speech therapy because he struggled to say the hard K and T sounds. In hindsight I don't think he needed speech therapy at all - if he had started school at 7 his speech would have been perfectly OK by then. I'm seriously thinking of not sending DD2 until Year 4 and teaching her at home until then.0 -

Pigpen Men!!1 My DH (should I maybe omit the D) is the same. Have to say he say he can't smell DD's nappies when it needs changing and i can guarantee that if ever I go out then when i come home the house is a state. He thinks that I should be grateful because he looked after them. Of course he doesn't need to do anything else when he looks after them.
nickysnackynoo think that my DH is a number 0 as not only does he do nothing (although Ihe thinks he is great) but there always seems to be more mess when he is around.
taffy1969 my 2 are too small at the moment but my niece is very good at doing her homework or at least trying but I don't think that primary schools should have homework. Maybe reading a book etc but I think they get enough homework in senior school without having it at primary school.
Saying that my niece goes to Kip Mcgrath and gets 2 sheets of homework (only take about 5 minutes each) and she mentioned at the weekend that she wished she got more to do. This is coming from a child that on ly 6 weeks ago couldn't stand maths.
nicki well done on your weight loss and wanted to say that tattoo looks beautiful.
well best go and get DS and DDJanuary Grocery 11/3740 -

Why is it that when fathers look after their own children they are "babysitting"?:rolleyes:0 -
Hi everyone.
Joined in (albeit silently) with the 1.30-2pm HHC - although I started at 1.45 and finished at 2.40!!!
Managed to:
Clean toilet, sink and bath
cleaned floors in toilet and bathroom
cleared tops in master bed and polished them (this took quite a while).
Found £1.46 on my bedside table!!!! :j :j :j :j
Just need to put a wash on then get DD2 up in time for school.
I completely agree with everyone on the homework front. My DD1 in reception and gets one page (about 10) words to learn about every 4 weeks and changes her reading book on a Monday and a Friday. This is manageable for us but wouldn't get as much reading done if I worked during the day. Don't know how parents do it when they work and can't pick the kids up til 6pm and still have to do tea, bath and bed at a reasonable time. We're all expected to 'do it all' nowadays.
Got to go now DD2 definately awake!0 -

I remember my husband saying he was babysitting when ours were small. Made me so cross (you can tell, I've never forgotten it!). He only had to look after them because I was out working evenings, not having fun.0 -
Hi all,
I know I am a bit late in the week starting but I really need to sort the house out - its not dirty or anything, just a bit messy.
Anyway... I'm going to get involved properly as of next week but so far my week has gone as follows
Living Room
Fling open the window and let in the spring!
Check fire alarms are working
Clean windows, sills, door frames and skirting
Bedroom
Remove and wash bed linen and duvet covers.
Vacuum & turn mattress before replacing with fresh linen..
Air the duvet
Lots Lots more to do this week - but i will get there and will be joining in properly next week. (I hope)
