Not LAN Settings as that's for networks. Click on the Speedtouch Connection listed under Dial up and VPN Settings, then click the Settings button.

The domain name is blank, is that the way it should be?

General Setup Guide
USB modem/PCI card:
Connection details are accessed by double clicking the broadband icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) which will open a modem setting window and input the following:
Username: username@eprimus.co.uk
Password: Your Primus Broadband password

Hi Joe - now when you double click on the Speedtouch Cnnection shortcut on the desktop, you should be prompted for username and password, enter them and it should connect.

It asked for it after I rebooted the laptop but it still wont connect via the external broadband modem.

If you have installed from the CD, Now I am guessing as I have never used that device or Primus.

You should now have a icon on the desktop to start the connection.

Then just enter user name and passsword when asked and select save settings.

Read the manual:

STUSB/330 Setup and User’s Guide R3.0 (en)

See if you need newer drivers for VISTA or firmware:
Thomson ST 330

Oh how I hate VISTA :)

You may have to right click any link/connection and select administrator.

It's the same as I dialup box but using ADSL settings. (If I remember correctly)

The device was used with Primus on the old computer.

Right, I've googled it and apparently there are no Vista compliant drivers for Speedtouch yet. What did you download and where from?

I found this on another site which the poster said was how he got the drivers to work in Vista and a couple of other posters confirmed it worked for them too:

First off. You need to download both the Latest Windows xp 64bit and 32bit drivers.

http://www.speedtouch.com/software/ST330/R400/Installers/Windows/SpeedTouch330seriesR4.0.0.5.exe (64 bit driver)
http://www.speedtouch.co.uk/downloads/330/301/st330_3012_windows.zip (32 bit driver)
Now follow the following...
1) Make sure you remove any previous attempt to install the speedtouch 330 on vista. Remove all apps and drivers from the computer.
2) Install the 32bit driver. It should all work smoothly and install nicely.
3) Install the 64bit driver. Then Select the PPPoE option
4)When it asks for the VPI.VCI select 0.38
5) Start the install. carry it on then enter your information.
6) Resume the installation and it should crash.
7) Restart the computer (don't cold boot it)
8) Goto, start, connect to, set up a connection, chose your connection and re enter your information.
You should be all sorted. You can only connect through the windows vista connection, Don't fiddle with the Speedtouch stuff or anything till they release a proper driver for vista.
I hope that helps. I must admit that I've avoided Vista because I find it too fiddly and I'm too impatient, besides which I've quite a lot of older software that probably wouldn't run under Vista.

?

Release 4.1 - Windows Vista (only)
Update for Windows Vista

NOTE: Any previous ST-USB/330 Driver must be removed prior to installing version 4.1
Download the Vista Update and save to a temp directory.
UNPLUG your ST-USB/330 modem.
Using Windows Add/Remove Programs un-install the previous driver.
Install the Vista Update.
PLUG in your modem when prompted by the installer, and not before.

They may have still used the wrong drivers or not removed any attempted drivers before installing the VISTA drivers.
