I did connect the device, a Speedtouch, to the laptop as it is an external device.

    Did you install the drivers?

The drivers come on a CD with the modem. If you haven't already installed them, then unplug the device, insert the CD and follow the installation process. It will prompt you when you need to plug the device into the laptop.

OK, if it's Primus, then has she installed the modem? Once she has done that, she should go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections and Settings and enter her Primus username and password in there, then click OK.

The modem is installed. Should I go into setup or LAN settings?

Not LAN Settings as that's for networks. Click on the Speedtouch Connection listed under Dial up and VPN Settings, then click the Settings button.

    What is the Speedtouch device.

Have a look at the last link I posted above.

I would guess just enter user name and password supplied by Primus.

    Speedtouch 330.

Did you mean to post twice? If so, I assume Internet Options are different on Vista from XP. Go into setup for the Speedtouch connection then if there isn't a settings area.

If you have installed from the CD, Now I am guessing as I have never used that device or Primus.

You should now have a icon on the desktop to start the connection.

Then just enter user name and passsword when asked and select save settings.

    Read the manual:

    STUSB/330 Setup and User’s Guide R3.0 (en)

See if you need newer drivers for VISTA or firmware:
    Thomson ST 330

Oh how I hate VISTA :)

You may have to right click any link/connection and select administrator.

It's the same as I dialup box but using ADSL settings. (If I remember correctly)

Hi Joe - now when you double click on the Speedtouch Cnnection shortcut on the desktop, you should be prompted for username and password, enter them and it should connect.

I am not prompted for the username and password.
