Growing garlic

Thought I would post an update and see how every ones garlic plants are doing. As you can see from the really wonderful piccy below.....
the cloves we planted last December are really taking off now. My flowerpot has been sitting in a cold greenhouse over winter. It’s still not to late to plant a clove or two if you want nice fresh garlic by the end of summer.

Right, i've had my garlic sat in the shed all winter.... forgot to plant it!
Will do it now, or in the next couple of days!
Pots for me too, so probably leave them outside now, rather than greenhouse?0 -
Oops, me too. Is there anything else I should be planting now ?

Which particular type of garlic? Some are bred to be sown early (pre Christmas).
Whateveryou may as well plant them rather than waste them. They'll be OK in an unheated greenhouse or outside - you've nothing to lose, so JFDI!

Ooh they look great GreenFingers. I bought some organic garlic from the supermarket last week, you've given me the inspiration to get them planted up today. Thanks.
I will have to have a go at planting them in winter when it comes around too.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0 -
Ermmmmm are you supposed to plant the cloves individually? I've planted the whole bulb - two in a pot
I only did it a week or two ago, so should I pull them out and start again? "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Hello Curry Queen,
Yes... you need to lift the bulbs and break them down into individual cloves. Choose the biggest, plumpest cloves and re-plant them - no problem, they'll be fine and love you lots....hee hee

Just to clarify - If i take some of the cloves off the bulb of garlic that I bought in Tesco and plant it in a pot it will grow?
- or have I got this totally wrong? Does it need to be special compost? I inherited a green house when I moved here - we just store garden equipment in there - so is that the best place to put the pot? When would I expect it to have grown and do I need to water it daily - Sorry for so many questions, I'm new to all this!
Thanks
