Mobile Phone Pay Monthy Bill?

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but...

I'v just got a new contract phone, after being with T-mobile before, I have switched to O2.

They tell me I will pay my first bill 4 days after dispatch of my order for one month in advance

So as my phone should be here by Monday as I ordered it for next day delivery on Thursday, but it didn't turn up on Friday as it should of (typical!) my first bill should be here Weds/Thurs

BUT

My next bill will be with me 30days after this one, so does that mean I'm constantly paying one month in advance for the rest of my contract?

I'm all a bit confused as to how that would work as what if I go over my line rental?
