Yes, I know MrsE - I was just trying to emphasise the argument against sympathising with the OP... I know you were talking about empathy, which is quite a different thing - my post wasn't correcting yours, it was a reply. ;)

The cleverness of it, was lost on me:o :o:o:o

    Is cleverness a word?:rotfl:

If young people didn't push prices up with 125% mortgages, BTL LLs could have bought houses cheaper and rents would be lower.

    :)

Previously with more people renting instead of buying, rents actually went up when prices went down, but this time with 52 million BTLers and 12 trillion newbuild flats it may be different.

I wouldn't worry about losing your place though. It's be a minor upset in the grand scheme of things.

Blagger, it can;t be much of a life you have? What a depressing lack of ambition or well.. anything.

Are you really happy with your life and future?

yes, since being on benefits i have built up £100k bank balance through gambling, (free bets, casino bonuses, bad eways, trading on betfair etc).

i would never have achieved this is if i was still a mug and had a job, as i would not have had the time to devote myself to these activites.

PS its the government, banks and most of the property industry that have been greedy and reaped most of the rewards IMO, not my mum and dad.

Still, you get what you deserve and it's fair to say that the government, banks and most of the property industry are going to get what they deserve.

Well done blagger. I obviously didn't realise that. Why not stop the benefits and be a professional gambler then?

lol, there's something I never thought I'd be saying!
  • Right, I've lost a little sympathy for you after doing a bit of working out.

You're on 22k, your OH is on 15k. Total of 37k.. you can get houses in your area for 130k.

Give it 2 or 3 years to save a deposit (they don't just magic out of thin air) and you should be on better salaries and definitely be able to afford a property.

I don't quite get what's so grim about your situation really

I agree and stand by my original diddums comment, but they seem to have dropped the self pity and come round..

You guys have a good point tho... This situation doubly screws me over (potentially).

    1. I cant get on house price cause of overinflated prices
    2. If a crash occurs and my landlord is forced to reposses where do i stand when the house im renting is taken back!!?

This sucks :(, now im worrying alot.
There is such a thing as worrying too much though :D Don't worry about enjoying life too much while missing out on actually enjoying it.
There might be a time in the future when you look back on these mortgage free carefree days as the best in your life, you just never know.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
