i would be carefull too on sizes exceeding the limits, not so much with regards to ryanair staff, because if your hand luggage only then the gate staff are unlikely too even notice your are carrying luggage, i have never seen the size cage being used at the gate or even seen gate staff take a closer look at a bag

but jobsworth security staff are everywhere and take a lot of interest in sizes and they seem to enjoy the confrontation a little too much for my liking

Well to be honest, if it takes your said jobsworth security staff to stop the apparently endless stream of idiot passengers who are incapable of following the most basic of rules and who insist on trying to carry outsized pieces of luggage onboard flights.......... then I reckon we need more jobsworth security staff. ;)

what on a couple of centimeters!! no one is suggesting to smuggle an elephant on board but just people experience on the volume when it exceeds a few centimeters... oh holy one.

i have traveled with ryanair loads of times from luton and my bags are never checked i also carry my handbag containing my sons inhalers, security ask for me to place my hand bag on top of my case as i cannot pack his inhalers. i have also noticed that people have traveled with the medium size case on wheels as hand luggage they have boarded no problem
  • Try this website, I was having the same problem :)

trouble is, if 58cm gets away with it next time its 59, then 60 and so on. Then its fn jobsworths fault when they KB the 65cm bag.

Its not difficult really. Stick to the EXACT maximum dimensions not even one tiny cm more, then theres no problem.

    sorry wrond thread
  • I am also finding it very difficult to find a bag that is within the size limits posted on Ryanairs website, there is no point people pointing out that the sizes are given what we are looking for is a recommendation for a bag. All those I have found are too deep.
  • Spent more than 2 hours on net inc ebay, and only found one nice bag for £29.99. Checked out Tesco, Matalan. Finally went to luggage shop in market, and although they had some nice trolley cases, there was always some dimension too big. The shopkeeper insisted that he knew what the limits were, but he was wrong. Bring your own tape measure with you. Finally got a cheap shaped nylon bag (very light) that was just under all the sizes, so I can pack it to bulging. £5.99. Result.
