Hand luggage Ryanair

Lol I did mean one boot. I went with my sister and SIL, my sister couldn't fit all of her stuff in her bag so she shoved loads of stuff into one boot and put it in my bag. There was room for the other boot but I wasn't carrying all her stuff around for her while she totted about with a miniscule little clutch bag. I'm not that generousMaybe finc meant a book??
I thought the same as you lot at first, but she said 'one boot with room to spare', so surely if it was boots, both of them would have been able to fit in the bag?
I love my Primark bag

if you'd been bothered to read the thread properly, you will see the op is asking which particular bag someone has used on a ryan air flight. If you bothered to check their website you would see what size of bag is allowed. Stick to that size and you'll have no problems. It's not difficult!
it's sarcastic comments like this that is driving mse's to different sites, or reluctant to post.0 -
I cut out a piece of newspaper the size of the hand luggage they specify and then checked that against squashable soft bags. I also used those duvet vacuum bags to reduce the size of my luggage, whch meant I could get about twice the volume of stuff in my bag! They allow luggage so long as it will fit into the metal crates they use as luggage checkers - but will charge you extra for even a little handbag! you have to be able to get that into your single piece of luggage as well!0

couldn't agree with you more master of puppets
i'm not much of a poster but i read a hellova lot of usefull information on here which has helped the world of good, but recently noticing people are being shot down by the "sarcastic crew" for asking a question.
we bought hand luggage from QVC great size, lots of compartments etc.... was told it fits the hand luggage criteria yet when we got onboard a ryanair flight it wouldn't fit in the overhead locker.
we wern't allowed to have it at our feet so they took it off us and placed it in cargo without charge. Now if we knew that it wouldn't fit then we wouldn't have bought them, thus seeing the posters original question as what it is, a specific bag in mind ?

This threads get more and more absurd, with poor advice praised and good advice lambasted.
Ryanair have a policy with regard to hand luggage that is on their website and if the OP were to look, they would know exactly what is permitted.
By asking for "a bag that a.n.other has used as hand luggage on Ryanair flights" the OP leaves themselves wide open. What if someone carried on a bag, recommends the bag and it falls foul of Ryanairs policy? What then? Just because person A gets an oversize bag past the check in staff, does it mean that person B will?
And don't forget, oversize bags will still fit in the overhead lockers, just as long as certain dimensions aren't exceeded even if other dimensions are..... So someone could recommend an oversize bag that they got onboard and into the lockers, only for the OP to be told at check in the bag had to go in the hold.
Therefore, IMHO the OP needs only to stick to the rules laid down by Ryanair and it'll be plain sailing..... But here's some very good advice.
Read the rules with regard to carry on baggage and use a tape measure before buying.
The reason I say that is that I have just replaced my 21" case (the standard 55cm x 40cm x 20cm) and the problem is that having looked at heaps, whilst the case shell may well be within the rules, the external pockets, handle, wheels and the expandability (that adds a few more centimetres) means that the bag itself falls foul of the rules.
So IMHO the OP need look no further than Post 3 and 7 for advice and employ a tape measure.

I recommend this value suitcase from Tesco at £6.97
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-4257.aspx
I've bought 2 and used them several times for hand luggage with Ryan Air. I bought them in store at the same price as above.
Have a great trip,

I had one of those little trolley cases (like the Tesco one) but from sportsworld. I did take a tape measure to the shop though to check. Price was £5 last yearAnyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Does anyone know if the 55 cm is just for the body of the suitcase or the whole thing. I bought one from Matalan which said it was 50 cm to err on the side of caution but when I measured it it actually measured closer to 58 cm. the same with the Tesco one mentioned above which says it is 50 cm but in fact is more like 58 cm - at least the poster has used it on ryanair before so presumable I should be safe.0
