Ok, for the first time in 5 weeks we have been with this EA I got a call today to update me what is happening.

So, I got numbers of how many brochures went out, etc. And then she dropped it - the market is slow at the moment, probably because the budget is going to be announced next week!!!!! What rubbish excuse is that????

You have to remember that estate agents are just salespeople with no particular skills or qualifications.

They have no idea about the housing "market" at all.

Nothing, not been on much myself to be honest. Rather drab to be fair. We need sortofok etc back to liven things up.

Nah banks still lending, it's the uncertainty in the housing market.

Of course they're still lending but the criteria is now much tougher and the product fees are much higher. The era of easily obtainable cheap loans is over.

thing is they are bloody awfull at it, the average macdonalds worker puts more effort getting you to supersize than they seem to. i have had countless enquires ignored and the concept of up/cross selling seems entirely lost on them.

ask to take the house off the market, or move to another agent.. see if they really want your business- peopl still need to live somewhere, the budget isnt going to stop them!

I'm not so sure we can simply rule out "the budget".

Folk are nervous about their finances and who knows whether the Budget will produce some surprises

People want to be sure of their future income and future outcomings - either or both of which could be affected by the Budget.

It's also a convenient excuse for blokes who don't want to be dragged around to view houses they don't want to buy, by their OHs ;)
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

What tosh. Everyone knows that the slowdown in the housing market is due to sunspots and is not a manmade phenomenon.
