Ok, for the first time in 5 weeks we have been with this EA I got a call today to update me what is happening.
So, I got numbers of how many brochures went out, etc. And then she dropped it - the market is slow at the moment, probably because the budget is going to be announced next week!!!!! What rubbish excuse is that????

lol thats a good one.
I believe there will change the rules around stamp duty to try and get things moving a bit but I doubt that's the reason why the market it slow!0 -

I'll have to make a note to use that one in the next week. Do you have any more little nuggets like that that your agent has used?0

Well, the newspaper is not important I mentioned in my earlier posts (that is probably it costs them money to advertice there and since the budget will be announced only next week, they can't really sell any houses).
I am sure this relationship with EA will provide lots of laugh...
One more thing - when she called, she started off with 'you had a few viewings'. As it happens, we had 1 viewing, and when I told her so, the EA said, 'oh that is right, another lady put offer somewhere else'.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
It's nothing to do with the Budget-that's there in March, same place it's been for years. I'd say it's for one of the following reasons:
-Global warming
-The problems faced by The Most Vulnerable in Society
-Political Correctness Gone Mad
-A very nasty banking crisis that means that people are struggling to find the funds to buy with a mortgage.
-Health'n'Safety
I hate estate agents.0 -

Just a thought, but maybe they're referring to CGT changes for landlords. But that only means you may have more competition shortly (assuming government sticks to its word for once). Maybe she meant it was a quiet time for her?0

The markets slow because we've finally run out of idiots and cheap debt. (Apart from an astute few snapping up floodplain bargains)0

Nah banks still lending, it's the uncertainty in the housing market.
You're one of 2 people, the person who buys and thinks to hell with the consequences or the person that holds off cause they think as soon as i buy they'll crash.0
