Hello,
LTRFTP:j
I work at a Carphone Warehouse store and noticed a decent bargain today...
Samsung E590 Silver on pay as you go for £29.99 (+£10 topup)! From the CPW website...
"The Samsung E590 mobile phone wants you to take great photos. And it wants you to look good, too.
This eye-catching handset has been created in partnership with Jasper Morrison, who's renowned as an industrial designer. The uncomplicated exterior looks straightforward yet sophisticated, making it an attractive choice... and that's before you've started using the phone!
Looking at the back of the E590 will reveal a 3 megapixel lens for photos and videos. An auto-focus feature lets you concentrate on the subject of your pictures, while the handset's 'panorama' option creates wide-screen images. Everything is based around an intuitive interface that offers on-screen icons to help. You'll even be given a special 'bean bag' tripod that'll improve stability and grip when you're taking photos in difficult situations.
But there's much more to the Samsung E590 than its photos. You'll discover a versatile music player that'll cope with MP3, AAC and WMA files - along with 90MB of expandable memory to store your audiovisual files. There's Bluetooth and USB connectivity as well, with a host of additional useful features.
All this - and yet the Samsung E590 weighs a mere 66g. Anyone who's after a distinctive camera phone needs have a good look at this slim handset."
For a 3mp camera phone and mp3 player it's a bargain! When it came out less than 9 months ago, the phone was £250 sim free, they just didn't sell at all so they're clearing them out from what I can tell. If I remember right this price is on Orange (I'll double check that bit), but they are unlocked so will work with whatever sim you like. And it has to be bought with £10 credit (when paying by card, £20 when paying cash), but don't forget a trade in and that's a tenner off so £29.99 total.
Hopefully this didn't sound like an advert, but I think this is a cracking deal for a really nice phone... Now before you go, do you have a BT landline sir?... Sorry, force of habit!

Thanks OP, if only it was a slider! DD wants a new phone for her birthday, and the ONLY feature she is interested in is whether or not it will slide open!
Have had my eye on the Samsung J600, as it ticks this box for her! Do you know of any upcoming offers on this, dansandman? TIA!“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -

If you ask an assistant "on the floor" then they'll just refer you to the price on the display. You need to go to the counter and ask someone to check the price on the computer.
From what I can gather, this price is not yet advertised anywhere (including the in-store displays) and applies to the Orange network only. When I asked the person at the counter, they did a double take and hesitantly confirmed the price to be £29.95 (plus topup). So it looks like most of the staff don't know about the reduction until they key it into the computer - it was quite amusing to see the person's face when I asked them "how much is a Samsung E590 on Orange PAYG please" and they couldn't believe it was so cheap. I think once word gets out, the CPW employees will be snapping these up for themselves / friends / family, so I'd get in quick if you want one.
If you say that you've seen on the internet that it's only £29.95 they'll assume you're talking about the CPW website and fob you off with the "online only" excuse, but the fact is it's not that price online - it's INSTORE ONLY (which leads me to believe that it could possibly be a misprice) so MAKE SURE WHEN YOU ASK INSTORE THAT THEY CHECK THE PRICE ON THE COMPUTER.
