  • Maybe she's at class,telling everyone about it...;) :D

Was at class, but honestly daren't tell all  It looks really good and very easy and it involves less HEs and lots more free foods - and that's all I'll say so you can stop with the puppy-dog eyes :rotfl:

Ooh and a yoo-hoo to Northernlass :hello:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Hi everyone,

I went to my first Slimming World class today & felt confident I could do it until I got home & tried to do a shopping list :( I just don't know where to start, I've got a few recipes written down but can't think of anything quick & easy to do & am finding it really hard to get a meal planner set up...

I'm not a great cook & always have to follow recipes so am finding it difficult looking at the free foods & placing a recipe together iykwim... I'm thinking of quitting before I have even started which isn't good :(
Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:
  • Hello Laura,

I know how you feel I started in September and its took me a while to get going.
I decided that I am really a meat eater and that fills me up so I went for meat & veg without potato to start with and then thought about different ways to eat meat! Chicken features quite a bit in the oven with a sauce of onions, toms, passata and anything else on the free list that I might have in the fridge.
I have found the magazines really useful with the recipes and just build my day around one main meal either red/green.
The website can help as there are lots of different things to try and when all else fails good old egg, sw chips and toms work a treat.
I was really surprised about how much I can eat and so far I've lost 8 1/2 lb with hopefully another couple tonight.
Have a look back on this thread as people have posted their days menu, that should give you a few ideas.
Once you get going you can always go back to a week you have enjoyed so keep your meal plans.
    Good luck!
    Sue
Egg fried rice is a great standby as well!
Oh and frittata with veg in

I think you have to take a look at your usual eating habits and be guided by that too. For example, if you usually have a cuppa and a biscuit mid morning then just replace the biscuit with either a free food, healthy extra or a syn so that you are still having that mid morning treat.

I myself really like red days and eating all that meat but I find I get irritable and tired and green days suit me better. So I tend to stick to green days. I will have egg and beans for breakfast followed by fruit and muller yoghurt and then I have my usual sandwich for lunch, except I have wholemeal bread as a healthy extra and either have it as egg salad or cheese salad using the cheese as another healthy extra.

I found it is better if you stick to your normal way of eating (although I don't tend to eat between meals anyway) but change the portions according to what day you are on and treating certain foods as healthy extras or syns.

Thanks for the tips, I've managed to get my shopping done now & have ordered some SW books to get some ideas from too.

I should be okay once I get used to it, a lot of the time I don't have time to cook so will need to think up some simple quick meal ideas but I'm going to try cooking more from scratch. I love pasta so think Green days will suit me better.

Welcome over here Northernlass. And for flat eric - I have just bought some quark today to make the Cheesy Broccoli Bake from the current magazine. It’s got lots of ingredients but it is quite straight forward.
Laura I know it is daunting at first but if you can have a look at the SW magazine, every one has a 7 day meal plan and it can be a good guide. When I started again this time I went to the library (money saving you see!) and loaned the last few SW mags also.
I have been preparing a meal plan at the weekend and you don’t have to have 7 different things as you can have 4 lunches for example and alternate them, or cook a meal like the goulash and freeze half for when you dont have time to cook e.g this week I have had:
    Monday
Breakfast 2 weetabix (HB) and 250 ml s/s milk (HA)
Lunch 1 Bag Ryvita Minis (HB) and ½ tub of Asda GFY Pineapple Cott Cheese 1.5 Syns, Muller Light and Banana.
Dinner Beef Goulash from SW magazine (free on red)
Snacks Various fruit and muller lights
    Total Syns: 1.5
    Tuesday
Breakfast 2 weetabix (HB) and 250 ml s/s milk (HA)
Lunch Tin Heinz Winter Veg broth 400g (HB), Muller Light, Apple
Dinner S/W Wedges (made from little pots par boiled and roasted with fry light), poached eggs and beans (free).
Snacks Various fruit and muller lights
    Total Syns: 0
    Wednesday
Breakfast 2 weetabix (HB) and 250 ml s/s milk (HA)
Lunch Sweet & Sour Mug Shot - free, 2 ryvita sesame (HB) Muller Light, Fruit
Dinner Mushroom Omlette with S/W Wedges (made from little pots par boiled and roasted with fry light), 42g vlf cheese (HA)
Snacks Various fruit and muller lights. 3 no quality street - 6 syns! :)

    Total Syns: 6
    Thursday
Breakfast 2 weetabix (HB) and 250 ml s/s milk (HA)
Lunch 2 ryvita sesame (HB), with 4 extra light laughing cow triangles (HA)Muller Light, Fruit
Dinner Jacket Potato with pasta in sauce chicken & mushroom made with water
Snacks Various fruit and muller lights
    Total Syns: 0
Etc. etc. …… don’t know if you noticed but I hate eating breakfast and have to force it in so I have the same every day and get it over with quickly.
Hope this is a bit of a help.
