I will be watching this myself.....
I agree about the chips and the risps being made the same way, but i think it might be a case of how filling they are (per 100g say) the chips might be classed as satisfying hunger for longer than the crisps...

I really don't know though???? consultant31 quoted passage saying that this kind of cooking is a mis-use of food, yet then a weetabix cake is posted up, i personally find that more of a mis-use of healthy normal food than either potato/lasagne crisps....

    Mel x

Aaah just looked back, she said a mi-use of free food, so as weetabix aren't a free food I suppose that's why it's ok to make cakes with them!!!!
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
  • Soooo.... I have done a search on this thread, and it seems that back in feb, this type of baked crisp was deemed a 'misuse' of ingredients, so therefore NOT syn free...

It will be interesting to hear from SW itself, as I went to the bother of sending them the recipe idea, as to whether they agree with this point, But however nice they were

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THESE UNLESS YOU SYN THEM

:oskulks off into corner feeling not so clever after all

SW say that it is a misuse of 'free' foods as you wouldn't normall eat that many potato's as a snack. So why then do Betterware/Kleeneze sell microwave crisp makers??? My first group did a good business buying these as my consultant said crisps made like this WERE free. If 'normal' people can eat this many potatos, then why can't SW'ers?
  • .... just a thought

when I made syn free chips last week, I used two potatoes and ate the lot.

when I made my baked crisps, i used half a potato, and shared them with my husband and daughter.

I am happy to accept these (baked crisps) are not free due to the dehydration process (grapes are free, sultanas are not, etc), but not really as a misuse of food..... since when was a crisp made from a potato unusual???

    Hi all,

Any ideas for red day meals which will fill me up?? All suggestions gratefully received :D.

I often have chicken breasts with bacon wrapped round them, baked in foil for 30 mins. Served with either a salad or veg and potatoes (HEB) You can always cut the chicken slightly and put in a couple of laughing cow triangles with some garlic :)

I also enjoy the SW burgers with a salad or grilled chicken with some lemon pepper, or sometimes fresh lime, sprinkled/squeezed over.

Spag bol is an easy choice made with chopped toms and herbs with pasta as a HEB.

    Hello everyone,

I recently did the Cambridge diet with much success, losing 2.5 stone in about 7 weeks. I've had a few months break and have managed to keep it all off, however I'm 14.4 stone and need to get back onto some sort of diet to lose the rest. I'm deliberating doing Cambridge again, however don't know if I can do it!!!!! Fact is, I adore food.... Although I found Cambridge fairly easy after the first few days or so, I don't know if I can I face the shakes for another 7 weeks....?! Which makes me think Slimming World may be a better option?

What sort of weight losses are you all getting on a weekly basis after week 1? I look forward to your replies, thank you xx

  • if you were making a creamy sauce instead of using cream, fromage frais or natural yoghurt, could you use cornflour and milk or would that really not work?

Morning everyone and Happy Monday to you all.

At the weekend I made some tasty lamb kebabs. I marinated some (tesco lamb escalopes - free on red) in lemon juice, lemon zest, chilli flakes, cumin, chilli powder and smoked paprika. I then threaded the lamb (after marinating for about ten hours) on to sticks with mushrooms, peppers and red onion. They were very nice but a tad too lemonnny. So thought I would do them again but vary but cant think how?!
