from the first post in the thread

Do not ask for codes in this thread

DO NOT PM ME FOR UNLOCK CODES

Most Motorola's , LG's , Samsungs and Sony Ericssons cannot be unlocked by code and need to be unlocked by direct cable or clip in a shop.

If there is not a code listed for your phone below then there is NO free way to unlock it, you need to find a shop or Market Stall to do it for you (correct as of 09/05/08)

Expect to pay between £5 - £20 for most phones for the person to do the unlock

    Ok, I've got a headache...............

Just visited about 200 "Unlocking mobiles" sites, and searched thro' these forums - Still not clear whether I'll be able to unlock a D750i using the std USB to Phone cable - as supplied by SE with phone originally - along with relevant software from the best priced / reliable site - Recommendations welcome!

Some sites seem to imply the std cable will do, yet others state this will not work, and sell a variety of "unlocking cables" - most of which look the same as the orig' cable, but with serial or PS2 connectors instead of the USB.

Be real grateful for a straight answer on this - unfortunately live in a rather "rural" area & we don't have any handy market trader or obliging phone shop "unlockers"

    Many thanks

Thanks G_G - Was cheered to get a reply from you re my cable dilema - (being the SE Expert 'n all )

Problem is, I've been trying in vain to get it to work with Total's Multi Server (2.45), and it just doesn't seem to want to know.

Have d/l and installed drivers from
    http://www.instant-unlock.co.uk/acatalog/Sony_Ericsson_Unlock_by_Cable_instructions.html
(As their tech guy said the cable "might work - so give it a try")

Tried diff' Com port settings, and even toggling the DTR and RTS settings, but still gives msg "Connect cable to phone and press ON button shortly" (Not sure if that means press ON button briefly - or press it a short time after connecting the cable to the phone! - Anyways, done both, and no result.

Any ideas welcome - like is the MS software total c**p / I should be using diff' sware to run a patch to u/l the phone - I've never had to do any of this before so it's all new to me

    Cheers

no if cid36, only with service cable (usb<>serial). if cid49 yes.

    find your CID first.
