hi, i have been made aware of a free unlock method for an LG Viewty
even backed up by one of the mods on this site - http://www.mobileexpert.co.uk/mobile/forum/unlocking/38783-unlocking-lg-viewty.html#post130089
do any of the experts on here know about this method (my post is the last on that page and no-one is respondingWhere the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

Yes - the DIY unlock method for Viewty does work, but it borks the IMEI and Bluetooth ID of the handset which one must fix afterwards, so be sure to backup the NV beforehand. I had to manually reset the IMEI via the AT commands before it would let me restore the NV file but otherwise all is/was well afterwards ...Used my MB profits to trade London for Cyprus ...0

yes but i could not enter any text into Mtty2 as i could only get "Usim Locked" and not Invalid Usim or Inactive Usim.
any idea why?Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

No sorry, went purely according to plan for me except the need to manually rebuild the IMEI before it would let me restore the NV ...
(which was good as it was a customer's handset and not mine :rotfl:)Used my MB profits to trade London for Cyprus ...0 -
can you tell me what network the phone was locked to?
and what Usim you used to get the "invalid Usim" message on the phone?
cheersWhere the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

Handset I successfully did was locked to Orange-UK
Not sure which sim I had in the handset when I did the terminal commands, as I've got a collection of all UK providers to hand for as/when needed (Orange, O2, TMobile, Voda, 3g, Tesco, Fresh, Asda, etc) as well as both Cyprus providers (Cyta & MTN) and a handful of European / Eastern Block ones as well ...Used my MB profits to trade London for Cyprus ...0 -

Power on your phone
1- Enter code *7465625*28782# without a sim in the phone
2- Phone will display "Auto Subset Lock: Activated!"
3- Enter code *7465625*28638# without a sim again
3- Phone will display "Auto Network Lock: Activated!"
4- Now insert the sim and enjoy! Phone is Unlocked!
(NOTE: When you change sim to other operator repeat this process to unlock it for that operator also)

Hi,I got this info to unlock some newer samsungs without running into the problem of it resetting the imei to 00000000,
Have tested it on a e250 and a d900i,both unlocked easily. Checked imei,it is still original & phones appear to be fully functional....
PLEASE BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE UNLOCKING
This will also bring the phone to default settings
1. First do a CUSTOM reset: *2767*2878#
turn off the phone
2. take out the battery and sim and put wrong network SIM and insert only a half of it,
Very important so it won't ask for network password and shows "Insert SIM" message.(possibly in a different language)
Now put the battery ,and switch the phone on .(phone shows "Insert SIM" message.)
3.push the sim fully in at this stage the phone is still asking to "Insert SIM"
4. Make a FULL reset: *2767*3855#
5. The phone should reboot working with "wrong" sim inside.
6. Make a Change the NCK password to 8 zeros by typing: *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#
7. Now Disable network lock By typing: #7465625*638*00000000#
Phone is unlocked
Just thought this may be useful for someone,
Regards
***Would all users please remember you use these codes at your own risk, thank you Board Guide***
