not tried it myself but this is supposed to work
1) note handset imei
2) insert the card you want to use in your handset and switch on
3) at wrong card enter *2767*688xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx#
(xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx = handset imei number)
4) after reboot your sim will work, BUT not after power down
5) enter *0141#
6) press call (green) button
7) now simlock updated to current network
OK, I am a complete technophobe ( I could not even get the petrol pump to work the other day!!) and the above scares the life out of me!!
How do I reboot??
Once it has rebooted do I then enter *0141# ?
I am wanting to unlock so that I can use a travel sim so when I get home do I repeat the whole procedure to put back the original sim??
Hope someone can help in plain English please!!

I am thinking to buy a Samsung M300 phone. Does anybody know if Samsungs are easy to unlock for free?
I am under the impression that Nokias are easy to unlock so would like to know if this is the case for Samsung phones. Thanks.

FROM THE VERY FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD
Do not ask for codes in this thread
DO NOT PM ME FOR UNLOCK CODES
Most Motorola's , LG's , Samsungs and Sony Ericssons cannot be unlocked by code and need to be unlocked by direct cable or clip in a shop.
If there is not a code listed for your phone below then there is NO free way to unlock it, you need to find a shop or Market Stall to do it for you (correct as of 09/02/07)
Expect to pay between £5 - £20 for most phones for the person to do the unlockEx forum ambassador

In addition to that please use the search function as patch unlocking for Sony Ericcson has been mentioned numerous times as well as links to software to unlock Samsung phones.0 -
