Hi Kaz, you will be looking at £49.99 for this to be done, that will be factory unlocked so that means it wont get locked ever again.

Hi,

Coming to end of contract with Three for a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. Is there a free way to unlock this phone please?

I did Google it and found lots of dodgy looking websites that I'm not sure I would trust.

Also came across a video from GiffGaff which talks about "rooting" the phone first and then getting a free code to unlock it. But the video is a bit confusing and I don't want to risk bodging this and damaging the phone - is this an option and how difficult/risky is it?

Hi it can be quite tricky to unlock it by rooting, unless you have done many phones before, what I would try first is wait for your contract to expire then contact 3 to ask them to provide you with the unlock code, usually when you contact the network provider when the contract is up they provide you with the unlock code for free.

Hi Pumagirl, I'm afraid there are no free unlock codes for this phone, cheapest codes to buy on Ebay for Orange are currently £34.99 not sure how much a local unlocking shop would charge though.

Thank you Jay thought as much Iv been ringing round a few shops and so far have got it down to 35.00 as you say Daft thing is if I had been on pay as you go with orange for six months they would have given me code free apparently !

Yes it can be done, but not for free, as there are no free remote codes. Contact a pro unlocker.
