Hi trying to unlock a Samsung SGH-G600. I have tried using the code way back on the first page of this thread but the phone won't let me put in either the * or # characters. Anyone else had this problem? If so, have you been able to get around it?

Hi - hope someone can help. I have a Samsung G600 mobile phone, and got it unlocked today (was with Virgin) so that I could change provider. When I put in the new SIM card, it asked me for the 'SP' (Service provider) code. I rang Virgin, who I was tied to, and they said it would cost me £15 to get that code  Will I ever be free of wretched Virgin mobile ....
Can someone point me to somewhere I can get the code cheaper? I looked here on the forums but couldnt find anything to help, and am a bit wary of dodgy dealers on Ebay.

    Many thanks
    Pam

Without the need of a unlock code i do have an idea for you,
Its nothing much but its gotta be better than virgin......

The ONLY other SIM CARD you can use without the need of a unlock code is a T-Mobile sim card as Virgin & T-Mobile run on the Same Network :)

    Good Evening puddig,

It sounds very much like the handset is locked to the network you purchased it from.

I would recommend contacting your previous network who will be able to help with retreiving the unlock code for you.

    All the best,

    Hi there

I just wanted to jump on to make sure you all know that most phones on Vodafone can be unlocked.

If you are on contract this is free.
If you are on Pay As You Go and have had the phone for more than 12 months it's also free.

To see more info click here.
